Washington has public safety challenges — the data shows it, our families feel it, and we need a new approach.
Bob is the leader we need as Governor to address public safety concerns, including a new approach to crime prevention and criminal justice — and he has the record to make it happen.
Bob’s Record on Public Safety
- Bob supported sexual assault survivors by leading the coalition that eliminated the shameful rape kit backlog. The backlog consisted of more than 10,000 untested kits when Bob took office.
- Bob wrote and passed laws to combat mass shootings. He took the Trump Administration to court and won a nationwide victory that blocked the unchecked dissemination of untraceable, undetectable 3D-printed guns.
- Bob wrote and passed a nationally-recognized law increasing the penalties for elder abuse. Bob created a Cold Case Unit with investigators focused on cases involving Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.
- Bob formed a Hate Crimes Task Force. He prosecuted a hate crime. And he drafted a plan to address rising domestic violent extremism that was called a “model for the nation.”

We know we’ve sent you a lot of emails on the Supreme Court’s ruling granting Donald Trump virtually unlimited immunity from criminal prosecution.
Here’s why: This decision is terrifying, undermines the rule of law in our nation, and raises the stakes of this election even higher than before.
Don’t just take it from us — Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s dissenting opinion makes clear that American democracy as we know it is on the line. She wrote, “With fear for our democracy, I dissent.”
Here’s what else Justice Sotomayor had to say about the consequences of this ruling:
- “It makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law.”
- “Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune.”
- “In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law.”
- “A President’s use of any official power for any purpose, even the most corrupt, is immune from prosecution. That is just as bad as it sounds, and it is baseless.”
We know who Trump is and what he’s capable of — and this decision gives him the legal license to do essentially whatever he wants if he returns to the White House. That’s why reelecting President Biden has never been more important to the future of our democracy than it is right now.
