Tomorrow marks a special day in our campaign. Not only is it our first fundraising deadline, but it also marks three weeks since the start of our campaign! In this short time, we have begun laying the foundation to be successful in the coming year. I am pleased to say that I’ve earned the endorsement of folks like former Yakama Nation Councilmember Asa Washines, State Senator Rebecca Saldaña, and Yakima City Councilmember Danny Herrera. With their support and that of the rest of the community, I know I can be successful.

If you missed it, several local newspapers, including the Yakima Herald-Republic and El Sol De Yakima, covered my candidacy for State Senate. I am proud that our campaign is already receiving media coverage as we inform our community about this important race.

To read what the Yakima Herald-Republic had to say, click here.

To read what El Sol De Yakima had to say, click here.

It’s important to remember that district lines remain to be redrawn following the Voting Rights Act lawsuit. We must be prepared to show a strong and well-organized campaign regardless of the new district lines. Meeting our first fundraising deadline goal will help us do just that. We are only $3,000 away from our first fundraising goal. Will you make a contribution today to help push us over the line?

A contribution of $14, $50, $100, or any amount within your budget will go a long way. To contribute, click here.

If you’ve already donated or are unable to give at this time, please consider telling your friends and family about my campaign and encourage them to contribute. Running to be Yakima’s first Democratic Latina Senator will be a tough challenge but with your support, I know we can be successful.

Thank you,

Maria Beltran

I’ve said it recently because it’s true: We’re up for a tough fight in Washington this year.

With a competitive Governor’s race, two Frontline House Democrats, and two open seats in the House, national Republicans have shifted focus to our state and hope to win big in November.

After all of my years of leadership in our state, I know this: The future of Washington is up to us.

It’s our time to fight for it.

We’re coming up on our end-of-month fundraising deadline, and the team has set a goal for us to raise $30,000 in these last few days. Will you donate $10 or anything you can right now to help us get there?

The entire country is still reeling from the Alabama Supreme Court’s ruling about embryos and in-vitro fertilization (IVF) – and with the stronghold extreme Republicans have on our country, we can expect to experience more decisions like this one.

Now, we’re on the brink of another government shutdown because right-wing extremists refuse to work together, and the American people are going to pay the price.

Stopping extreme Republicans from gaining traction here in Washington state must be our #1 priority.

Will you donate now before our end-of-month deadline?

I sincerely appreciate your support.

Friends –

Latino Victory Fund has endorsed our campaign! I’m so excited to share this news. I would be the first Latina elected to a statewide position as your Commissioner of Public Lands — and it means a great deal to me to have my community’s support and the endorsement of Latino Victory Fund.

I must bring my community with me and uplift the needs of all across the diaspora. Almost every bill I have prime sponsored is the result of centering voices and experiences of community members living on the margins. By building cross-sectoral multiracial coalitions we have been very successful in advancing progressive legislation and budget priorities. We as Latinos are so deeply connected to our lands; we work in tree planting, taking care of kids, gathering food, and much more to do with the Earth.

Higher temperatures and contamination impact us all. We need to bring in our elders, our workers, and our youth so that together we can create a sustainable future. We need to change how people make decisions; right now there are only a few players: big timber, corporate companies, and a few traditional environmental groups. Every day people who work on our lands should have a seat at the table. We need to change who is working with us to make those decisions and create the solutions, and I will change the way we do policy and implement programs at the state level.

My commitment to workers’ rights, living-wage jobs, and coalition building is essential for this office, just as my approach to environmentalism is. No, I’m not a traditional choice for this position but where has going the easy or comfortable route gotten us? We need bold decision-makers. We need people willing to stand up to corporations and the powers that be to truly protect everyday workers and people. This place — our home — is an incredibly beautiful place with so much to offer its current and future residents. And I have the expertise, experience, and record to lead.

If you share our vision, can you forward this news to five friends? We are gaining momentum, and now we need you to help to sustain it!

Adelante,

Is there anything we can say today to convince you to donate to Nick’s people-powered campaign?

What if we told you that Nick has two decades of public service experience, including his work as a JAG Corps attorney in the U.S. Army, as General Counsel for Governor Jay Inslee, and most recently, as the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington appointed by President Biden?

Or if we said that Nick’s running for Attorney General because he believes that every Washingtonian has a right to be safe no matter their age, their race, their gender, or where they live.

What if we told you that Nick’s been traveling our state, connecting with voters from Vancouver to Spokane, and earning endorsements from local organizations like the Washington Machinists Council and Clark County Democrats?

Or that winning this historic campaign would make Nick Washington’s first Black statewide executive branch elected official?

Sounds pretty good, right? But if we want to keep up our momentum and win this race, we’re going to need this incredible grassroots team’s support today to ensure we hit our upcoming end-of-month fundraising goal.

Chip in $10, $25, or $39 to help us continue to grow this campaign across all of Washington’s 39 counties and make history by electing Nick Brown as Washington’s next Attorney General.

Thank you so much for taking the time to support Nick.

Let us know if you’d be interested in volunteering with Nick’s campaign.

This incredible grassroots team has been there for Nick repeatedly, and now, if you’re able, he needs your time. Volunteers serve a critical role in our campaign, helping Nick communicate his vision for a brighter future for all Washingtonians.

And as we get closer to Election Day, having a committed group of volunteers will be even more critical to ensure we can win this thing and get Nick working for you in the Office of the Attorney General of Washington.

Will you sign up today to show your interest in volunteering with Team Nick this election year? If you’re unsure, still sign up to hear from the campaign about future opportunities to volunteer.

No matter how you contribute to Team Nick — sharing Nick’s posts on social media, chipping in your grassroots support when you can, or opening and sharing emails like this one with your friends and family — we’re incredibly lucky to have you with us in this fight to elect a proven public servant like Nick.

Thank you,

— Tracy

Friends –

When I announced I was running to be your next Commissioner of Public Lands, I did so knowing my why and how — how I want to run this campaign is in community with you all. It’s through community that our shared vision for these wonderful lands will become a reality.

As I take my work to the next level to have a bigger impact on building a clean-fueled, fairer economy that supports healthy, thriving communities; and as we all work together to connect deeper with our neighbors and the beautiful lands, forests, and waters of Washington State, I know I can’t do it without you. This is our race, and this will be our win.

Don’t just take my word for it, hear from community leaders from across our state:

I’m grateful to receive these strong endorsements from community leaders like Oskar Zambrano and Dr. Marisa Herrera. It’s with community that I’ve become the person, mother, partner, leader, and friend I am today.

I came with the work and experience that when we center racial, social, environmental, and economic justice and create organized space for the voices of historically excluded individuals in rural, urban and suburban parts of our state — we can find innovative solutions that expand what is possible for all of us. The Department of Natural Resources needs a leader who can build coalitions and strong relationships to face our most pressing issues, together. I will be that leader and that fighter for you.

20. February 2024 · Comments Off on Bob Ferguson for Governor – February 20, 2024 · Categories: Elections

In 2016, a gunman opened fire at a house party of young people in Mukilteo. Using a military-style assault rifle and a high-capacity magazine, the shooter took the lives of three individuals and injured one other.

I met with parents impacted by this tragedy and promised I would do everything I could to honor their loved ones with meaningful gun safety reform.

I proposed two bills: a ban on the sale of assault weapons and a ban on the sale of high-capacity magazines. These proposals went nowhere for years—but we did not quit. We persisted until these bills finally became law over the last two legislative sessions.

Thanks to these efforts, the sale of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and assault weapons are now banned in Washington state.

These laws are important for the safety of our communities—and they need to be enforced. Not surprisingly, almost every business does the right thing and follows the law. But if they fail to comply, they must be held accountable.

My investigation team discovered that Federal Way Discount Guns continued to sell thousands of high-capacity magazines after the law went into effect. They even continued selling them after we filed our lawsuit.

As a result of our lawsuit, Federal Way Discount Guns must pay $3 million for flagrantly violating these important laws.1 This money will go to local law enforcement efforts to combat gun violence.

Getting these common-sense gun laws passed wasn’t easy. I wasn’t afraid to take on the gun lobby. And I had grassroots support from wonderful organizations like Grandmothers Against Gun Violence and Ceasefire who stood with me throughout this process. As Governor, I will continue to bring together stakeholders and partners.

Bob with Grandmothers Against Gun Violence

If you support these efforts and want to help my campaign, here are a few things you can do:

Thank you,

Bob Ferguson

P.S. Bob Ferguson for Governor is subject to the legislative session freeze, which means that we legally cannot accept donations until early March.

This Black History Month, I’ve been focused on learning from and uplifting the stories of incredible Black leaders who have made history here in Washington. So today, I want to take a moment to share the story of a very impactful Black changemaker who made history almost 40 years ago.

Cora Pinson worked for the Washington State Department of Employment Security and was active in her local Democratic Party. Through her activism, she worked to highlight Black history in her community by hosting a local radio show that uplifted and shared stories of Black history from Thurston County.

She made history in 1987 when she was elected as the first Black woman to ANY post in Washington state history and the first Black City Councilmember in Olympia.

Cora was an incredible community organizer who paved the way for future Black leaders like myself. Her story helps prove that all of today’s Black changemakers stand on the shoulders of our ancestors and those who paved the way for future generations.

With your support, we can make our own history. Winning the Attorney General’s race would make me Washington’s first Black statewide executive office holder. Together, we can create a Washington that Cora and many other past trailblazers would be proud of — a state where everyone has a right to be safe no matter their race, their age, their gender, or where they live.

Thank you for taking the time to continue to celebrate Black History Month with me. We’re stronger together and can always learn how to move forward by looking at the stories of past historymakers.

Best,

— Nick

Happy Saturday!

Since launching this people-powered campaign last year, Nick’s been fortunate enough to work with an amazing grassroots team and build a coalition of groups and leaders from across Washington.

Nick and his campaign have proudly received the following endorsements:

  • Many local labor unions, including ones representing ironworkers, transit workers, firefighters, painters, machinists, and more.
  • Organizations like VoteVets, the Washington State Association for Justice, and other advocacy groups and Democratic county parties and legislative districts.
  • 10 tribes from all across the state of Washington.
  • Many current and former federal, state, and local elected leaders, from Representatives Derek Kilmer and Marilyn Strickland to Former AG and Governor Chris Gregoire and Governor Jay Inslee.

Nick and the entire team are humbled and grateful to have the support of these changemakers. To keep up this grassroots momentum through Election Day, we’re going to need the continued support of folks just like you. That’s why we’re asking:

Will you personally endorse Nick Brown for Attorney General?

Thanks for being on this team and for taking the time to endorse Nick!
