Today we’ve got exciting news, and we had to tell you right away. Emerge is ramping up our programs to empower MORE Democratic women and meet this crucial moment in shaping the future of our democracy.
Now, we’ve officially launched our second-ever cohort of Seated Together – our program designed to empower trailblazing Black women to move up the political pipeline and deepen their impact for our communities!

This is a major milestone in our work to transform politics and achieve fair and inclusive representation at every single level of our government. Many Seated Together members have already achieved historic victories, becoming the FIRST Black women to hold their office! But we can’t stop there, Kendall.
Right now, there are no Black women in the U.S. Senate, there are no Black women governors, and only a handful of states and cities have ever elected Black women to Congress or the mayor’s office. That means vital voices are missing, and ALL our communities feel the impact of that gap.
To achieve a truly inclusive democracy for the FIRST time in our history, we must elevate bold Black women – who are already leaders in their communities! – to higher office. Together, our alums can help deliver political representation that reflects more of our communities and brings solutions that meet more of our needs.
