Me llamaron “valiente” por entrar en la “boca de los leones”. El sábado pasado participé en la reunión del Caucus Republicano de la Libertad en el Congreso como el único demócrata en el escenario con 5 aspirantes republicanos; Newhouse no se presentó. Hice una declaración de que volveremos a hacer grandes cosas trabajando juntos. Los cinco leales a Trump desplegaron la retórica habitual: destituir a Biden, eliminar el sistema educativo, acabar con los sindicatos y aumentar el uso de los combustibles fósiles. A pesar de que sus temas se dirigen a un grupo reducido de personas y no tienen en cuenta a la mayoría de los estadounidenses, se encontraron algunos puntos en común entre las filas. Esta base común es mi plataforma y beneficia a todos: hacer crecer nuestra economía, crear puestos de trabajo, reducir nuestra dependencia de los países extranjeros, lograr la independencia energética y preparar a nuestros hijos para el futuro. Trabajaré para unificar este distrito en beneficio de todas las personas. Nos llevará a todos, trabajando juntos, construir ese futuro brillante en el que creemos.
I was called “brave” for going into the “lion’s den”. Last Saturday I participated in the Republican Liberty Caucus Congressional Throw Down as the only Democrat on stage with 5 republican challengers; Newhouse was a no show. I made a declaration that we will again do great things by working together. The five Trump loyalists rolled out the usual rhetoric: impeach Biden, dismantle the education system, take down unions and ramp up our use of fossil fuels. Despite the fact that their issues spoke to a narrow group of people and disregarded most Americans, there was some common ground found between the cracks. This common ground is my platform and it benefits everyone; grow our economy, create jobs, reduce our dependence on foriegn countries, achieve energy independence and prepare our kids for the future. I will work to unify this district for the benefit of everyone. It will take all of us, working together, to build that bright future we believe in.
