24. January 2024 · Comments Off on Rebecca Saldana for Public Lands Commissioner, January 24, 2024 · Categories: Elections

Friends –

It’s hard to believe we’re in the last full week of January. Time is moving quickly, which means the short legislative session is also moving very quickly.

There is so much important work happening this session; and my commitment to strengthening our workforce, fighting for environmental justice, supporting immigrants, and uplifting all marginalized communities is as strong as ever. With so much to fight for, here are just a few public lands-related bills I’m supporting this session:

  • Senate Bill (SB) 6237 creates wildlife safe passages to improve connectivity and better protect the land and all life that share it.
  • SB 6011 which concerns the authority of the Commissioner of Public Lands to enter into Tribal interlocal agreements.
  • SB 5967 which allows us to create an exemption to the leasehold excise tax for housing leases on public lands.
  • SB 5946 would establish a fallen firefighter memorial.
  • SB 5910 creates a Smokey Bear special license plate.
  • Senate Concurrent Resolution 8402 will rename the Natural Resources Building as the Jennifer Belcher Building.

These bills and resolution vary in degree, giving us pathways to addressing critical climate policy through co-managment and affordable housing and creates space for remembrance of those who have made this work possible.

As we continue to learn and work together to find practical solutions to our most pressing issues, we can engage in new ways. If you’re looking for a starting point, join us.

Environmentalism takes many forms, and climate justice effects us all. We all deserve clean water to drink, clear air to breathe, and good jobs both in and outdoors. Climate justice looks different in cities, suburbs, Tribal lands, rural communities, Eastern Washington and Coastal Washington. This is why we need you and your important, diverse perspective.

Onwards,

Team Rebecca Saldaña (D)

cross our country, we’re seeing increased undemocratic attacks on voting rights from politicians and judges who are putting their extremist beliefs ahead of the rights of American voters. Will you chip in to Nick Brown’s campaign today to help us elect a champion for voting rights?

Voting Rights Law Faces More Setbacks With Conservative Judges

— Bloomberg Law

These attacks on voter protections, like what’s left of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, are just one example of how these extremist leaders are challenging one of the most sacred democratic practices in our country. We should be making voting and access to voting easier for Americans, not harder.

As Attorney General, Nick will stand up to any attacks on Washingtonians’ voting rights. To get Nick into the Office of the Attorney General, we need your help to ensure we have the resources we need to take on our conservative opponent’s big-money GOP donors. So what do you say, Kendall?

Will you chip in $10 or more to help Nick win and protect the voting rights of all Washingtonians, no matter their age, their race, their gender, or where they live?

When everyone votes and their voices are heard by the people in power, our government is stronger and more just. Thanks for your support today!

22. January 2024 · Comments Off on Nick Brown for Attorney General – January 22, 2024 · Categories: Elections

51 years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a woman’s constitutional right to make decisions about her own body in Roe v. Wade. This landmark ruling gave women the freedom to make reproductive decisions for themselves without the interference of male politicians.

Today, we should be celebrating this historic win for women, but we can’t. Instead, in places like Washington state, we’re having to fight to maintain the right of women to make their own health care choices, and again, women are living in fear of losing additional rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe just 18 months ago. Thanks to extremist politicians, justices, and conservative groups, the young women of today are allowed less personal freedoms than their mothers and grandmothers were.

Our daughters deserve better. We can’t afford to elect officials in 2024 who don’t support the expansion of reproductive rights. This is a pivotal moment. We must continue to fight for reproductive health care and abortion rights nationwide, even in states like Washington, where they are currently protected. If we don’t, extremists will win in 2024 and continue to take us backward.

As Washington’s next Attorney General, I will fight to protect a woman’s right to an abortion — and do everything I can to protect all forms of reproductive health care despite constant attacks from right-wing extremists.

Chip in today to ensure Washingtonians have a champion for reproductive rights working for them as Attorney General so we can continue to protect women’s fundamental freedoms.

Thank you,

Nick

51 years ago today, in the historic Roe v. Wade decision, the Supreme Court made clear that the Constitution protects the right to access abortion. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court recently stripped away this important freedom – which makes protecting reproductive rights at the state level even more important.

As Attorney General, I’m leading the fight to guarantee Washingtonians have reproductive freedom.

  • When Donald Trump attacked contraception access, I took him to court and won.
  • When a Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas issued a nationwide ban eliminating access to mifepristone, my team and I filed our own lawsuit to successfully preserve access to this important abortion medication here in Washington.
  • I championed the My Health, My Data Act into law, which is now the strongest health data privacy protection law in the country.
  • And when the Trump administration implemented its family planning “gag rule,” I led the legal challenge to block it.

I will always fight to make sure Washingtonians can make their own reproductive choices.

The same can’t be said for my opponent, anti-choice Republican Dave Reichert. He has a different perspective. He fought to restrict reproductive rights throughout his career, and there’s no doubt he’d do the same as Governor.

The good news is we can stop him — but I’m going to need your help.

If you’re with me, will you add your name today and help send a message that Washingtonians will stand up to protect our reproductive rights?

Thanks,

Team Ferguson

Is there anything we can say to show you how important your grassroots support is to our people-powered campaign in 2024?

What if we told you that Nick has twenty years of public service experience, including his work as a JAG Corps attorney in the U.S. Army, as General Counsel for Governor Jay Inslee, and most recently, as the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington?

Or if we said that Nick’s in this race because he believes Washingtonians deserve an Attorney General who will work to have a state where everyone can feel safe no matter their age, their gender, where they live, or who they love?

What if we told you that Nick’s been traveling the state, connecting with voters all over Washington and earning endorsements from tribes, unions, and leaders across Washington?

Or that winning this historic campaign would make Nick Washington’s first Black statewide executive branch elected official?

Sounds pretty good, right? But if we want to keep up our momentum and beat our Republican opponent, then we’re going to need this incredible grassroots team’s support today.

Chip in $10, $25, or $39 to help us continue to grow this campaign across all of Washington’s 39 counties and make history by electing Nick Brown as Washington’s next Attorney General.

Thank you so much for taking the time to support Nick.

Hi, happy Sunday! I’m reaching out to let you know why I believe having a champion of our democratic values and institution has never been more crucial.

But before I do, we have our first mid-month fundraising deadline of the year tomorrow at 11:59 pm, so please chip in $10 or more today to help us reach our goal and start 2024 strong.

Right now, our country is up against unprecedented threats to our democracy from extremist politicians and groups who are putting themselves before the people. These constant attacks on our democratic values and institutions are why the role of the Attorney General in Washington is so important.

As your next Attorney General, I vow to stand guard for all Washingtonians — protecting you from undemocratic laws or extremism and upholding fairness, justice, and the rule of law.

Our democracy isn’t just a concept. It’s a way of life. Our state can’t afford to elect an Attorney General who’s part of the political party that’s siding with extremists and who actively works to suppress our sacred democratic values and undermines legitimate election results.

My commitment to you is unwavering, and on day one in the Office of the Attorney General, I will work tirelessly to protect our democracy, safeguard your rights, and ensure justice for all Washingtonians. With your support today, we can win this election and keep extremism and undemocratic values out of our state.

Can I count on you to pitch in whatever you can today to ensure we keep Washington at the forefront of defending our democratic institutions and values?

Thanks for taking the time to read my message and for supporting our campaign.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi, it’s a new year, so I’m sure many of you are busy with work and trying to keep up with your New Year’s resolutions — I know I am.

Since we are now in the election year, I’m reaching out to see if you would complete a simple survey about the issues that matter to you in 2024.

We’ve officially reached the election year, and Election Day will be here before we know it (298 days away, but who’s counting 😉). I’m spending the next almost 300 days continuing to crisscross our beautiful state talking with Washingtonians.

I want to meet as many folks as possible and hear what issues are most important to them and their loved ones. From tackling gun violence to protecting reproductive rights, addressing the climate crisis, and fighting discrimination of any kind, there’s a lot at stake with this election. I want to make sure I don’t miss any issues that are top of mind for Washingtonians.

And since I can’t talk to every single one of you in person over a cup of coffee, I’m sharing this short survey. This campaign is about you, so if you can, please let me know what issues you and your family are discussing around your kitchen table this year.

Take a moment (it shouldn’t take more than a minute or two) to let me and my campaign know what issues matter most to you by taking our 2024 Issues Survey.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m incredibly grateful to have you on our team!

05. January 2024 · Comments Off on Women’s March – January 5, 2024 · Categories: Announcements, Elections

Three years ago tomorrow, on January 6th, 2021, far-right insurrectionists stormed the United States Capitol to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

They failed, but not before forcing Congress to evacuate and endangering the lives of all who work at the Capitol.

Over the last three years, many rioters have faced prosecution for their actions that day. Yet their ringleader — the person whose conspiracy theories about stolen elections incited the violence — has escaped accountability under the law, and continues to be a lead contender for the Republican presidential candidacy.

Donald Trump’s fraudulent claim that he won the 2020 election drove his supporters to insurrection.

We won’t let him win again.

In 2017, the first Women’s March of millions protested Trump’s election.

In 2018, we won a historic midterm election victory for Democrats — preventing Trump from enacting all of his authoritarian agenda.

In 2020, we evicted him from the White House.

In 2022, a Women’s Wave blocked a Republican red wave — and we proved once again that when women join together, we have the power.

In 2023, women continued to win for reproductive freedom at the ballot box across the country.

As an organization that relies ONLY on funding from everyday women, feminists, and allies like you, we need YOU to chip in $25 or anything you can so we can keep up our fight for a better future >>>

Thanks,

Women’s March
