The delegate results are in

8th LD Democrats, good morning.

Candidate filing for the 2024 state convention has closed. You can see your delegates here. Note that this list of delegates includes some who are automatic. These automatic delegates are local party officials who filed out of an abundance of caution.

As you can see, we’re going to be a diverse group. We join many of our fellow east side LDs in sending a lot of people to the state convention. We came in a little under our 20-delegate maximum, so no vote will take place — everyone who filed is now a delegate.

Delegates will be getting a separate email from me so we can talk about what we want to see happen, as well as wider east side strategy. That said, I want to thank everyone who signed up to represent our chunk of Washington. We’re going to make sure the west side knows we’re here, we’re active and that we can’t be taken for granted. Additionally, special thank yous to 16th LD Chair Jeffrey Robinson, Benton County 2nd Vice Chair Allison Dabler, and 8th LD Vice Chair Pamela Gaudet for their help recruiting and for other assistance.

Our next meeting is 9 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Richland library. This is a chance for delegates and the membership to meet and talk. We will keep this meeting to one hour, unless otherwise needed.

An important note for everyone: because the 8th Legislative District went overwhelmingly for President Biden in the 2024 presidential primary, all of our state convention delegates are committed to Biden, regardless of delegate preference. Only a few LDs had votes clear the required 15% vote to have uncommitted delegates.

See you this Saturday.
