MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
Hello, Washington Democrats!
End Gun Violence
The attack on Charlie Kirk and the school shooting in Evergreen, Colorado this week were needless and tragic. Political violence has no place in our society. Regardless of your political beliefs, we all deserve safety. Gun violence is too prevalent in America.
Never Forget
24 years later, we remember the lives lost on 9/11. We honor the courage of first responders, the strength of survivors, and the resilience of a nation that came together in the face of tragedy.
Democrats Fighting Back
With RFK Jr. in charge, West Coast Health Alliance is the right move, The Seattle Times (opinion)
Washington won’t become a victim to the pseudoscience and misinformation from RFK Jr.’s Health and Human Services Department. We will be a haven for medical research, physicians, and public health officials who are committed to doing the hard work of keeping people healthy and safe from disease.
Congresswoman Kim Schrier calls for Kennedy’s resignation, Kent Reporter
Dr. Kim Schrier led the Democratic Doctors Caucus to demand RFK Jr.’s resignation for his abdication of responsibility when it comes to vaccine safety and guidelines and for firing the CDC director for defending evidence-based vaccine standards.
Democrats accuse Trump administration of blocking more than $400 billion in federal funding, The Hill
Senator Patty Murray released a tracker showing that President Trump and Russ Vought continue to withhold hundreds of billions of dollars from families, farmers, children, small businesses, and communities throughout the country. Go here to see which funding has been withheld from your own communities.
Effort to force a House vote on Epstein files nears success, The Seattle Times
Two special elections where Democrats are favored to win in the coming weeks could provide the final votes needed to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files. It’s clear Trump’s name is all over these files, which is why his administration is fighting tooth and nail to keep these records sealed. The truth will win out!
Working for Washington
I am so grateful for our Democratic Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray this week – their courage in standing up for Washington families when it comes to our economy and to protect against pseudoscience. I encourage you to watch them in action by clicking the images below or go here and here.
Governor Bob Ferguson has been sounding the alarm about a new report showing that Trump’s tariffs could cost Washington grocery shoppers 16% more. A family that now pays $6,000 per year on groceries would see their spending increase to about $7,000 in 2027 if the President’s tariffs remain in effect. Also, 32,000 jobs would be at risk and our state could lose $2.2 billion in general fund revenue.
Already, Washington’s hops farmers and brewers are struggling under the burdens caused by Trump’s tariffs and extreme immigration crackdowns. Washington produces 74% of the Pacific Northwest’s hops and our region produces the majority of hops in our country. Trump’s trade wars are having a devastating effect on farmers and brewers.
National Campaigns
In 2025, Democrats have three crucial elections that need national attention – Governors’ races in Virginia and New Jersey, and Proposition 50 in California. If you want to help out, you can visit the campaign websites for Abigail Spanberger for Virginia Governor and Mikie Sherill for New Jersey Governor. Or join Courage California to help pass Prop 50 and fight back against the GOP’s illegal gerrymander in Texas and elsewhere. In our Washington, we work to elect Democrats nationwide as well as in our own backyards.
