MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
Friday, October 9, 2026
It’s Friday, Washington Democrats! 25 days until Election Day.
It was a joy to welcome Donna Brazile, the first Black woman to direct a U.S. Presidential Campaign and two time Chair of the Democratic National Committee to Seattle. She stopped by to hear from Washington’s Black Legislative Caucus about how we are working to help Washingtonians and elect Democrats up and down the ballot so she can uplift our work using her position as an ABC News political commentator.
What I’m Asking
As we head into the final weeks before the most important election of our lifetime, there’s important work happening across Washington, and your continual support helps make it possible. Contributing to WA Dems today will help us organize in every community, reach more voters, and elect leaders who share our values. Whether it’s $10, $25, or more, every donation strengthens our party and helps us keep moving Washington forward.

Working for Washington
Just 25 days left until Election Day. Now more than ever, we need your time and attention to push Democratic candidates up and down the ballot over the finish line. We have the wind at our backs as voters resonate with our message that Trump’s corruption is spiking prices everywhere. But we still have a lot of tough and close races that will be decided by who knocks more doors and makes more phone calls. Republicans have millionaires and billionaires. We have all of you! So please, sign up for a volunteer shift today! We have some incredible opportunities coming up!
SUNDAY – Bilingual Virtual Phonebank into LD 14. Anyone can join virtually to participate in our English and Spanish language phonebank into Legislative District 14. We’re working to boost support for John Duresky for U.S. Congress and Chelsea Dimas and Ezequiel Morfín for State House. Sunday, 2PM-5PM. Sign up here!
WEDNESDAY – Join WA Secretary of State Steve Hobbs for a follow up Zoom Q&A session regarding voter protection ahead of ballots being mailed statewide. RSVP here and submit any questions you have to press@wa-democrats.org. October 14th, 5PM-6PM.
Saturday, October 17 – Team Patty Murray, Team Adam Smith and Team Marilyn Strickland are working together to send a bus of canvassers to the 3rd Congressional District to ensure Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez helps Democrats secure a strong and sizeable majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. We’d love to see you there! RSVP today!
Democrats Fight Back
“Democrats are continuing to expand the midterm map into deep red territory as Republicans run scared,” says Washington’s own Congresswoman Suzan DelBene who also chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. With new targets in Kansas (!), Michigan, and Virginia, the DCCC’s Districts in Play program now includes 66 districts. That’s nearly double the total at the end of the ‘24 cycle. Also on the list? Washington’s 5th Congressional District where Carmela Conroy is giving freshman Congressman Michael Baumgartner one of the closest races in Eastern Washington in decades.
Congressman Rick Larsen is defending Americans from discriminatory voter ID laws, introducing the America Votes Act in Congress. A co-founder of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, Rep. Larsen wants to build on our state’s successful efforts to safeguard election integrity while getting rid of laws that disenfranchise citizens and prevent people from fully participating in democracy. Thank you for your leadership, Congressman Larsen!
Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez immediately went to work to protect communities and survivors of the deadly Longview paper mill explosion. She’s fighting for the people of Congressional District 3 and played a central role in protecting funding for the US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, the independent federal agency that investigates industrial disasters like what happened in Longview. Thank you, Congresswoman Perez for fighting for Washingtonians!
U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell is leading the charge in the U.S. Senate to create safeguards against Artificial Intelligence using her perch as the ranking member of the committee overseeing A.I. Her framework would put enforceable federal safety standards at the center of U.S. A.I. policy including third party audits of the most advanced systems before they are released. This is exactly the leadership we need on this disruptive technology that will be shaping the future of our state and nation for decades to come.
Stacey Willoughby is making (blue) waves in the North Cascades as the blue surge in Washington state could help flip a legislative seat that has gone to Republicans for more than 50 years. She’s up against a staunch MAGA Republican affiliated with Grace City Church, the same one that hosted a Christian Nationalist festival at the Gorge this summer.

The margin of effort: the power of election volunteering, Paul Loeb – Soul of a Citizen
Washington state is no stranger to close elections. Every action matters, especially from informed citizens who are helping their fellow voters understand what’s on the ballot and when and how to get those ballots turned in and counted. This piece uses data and stories from our state’s past to argue that the “margin of effort” is just as, if not more important than the “margin of error” in any poll. Please sign up for a volunteer shift today!
Thanks for all you do,
