WSDCC – October 16, 2026

Posted on October 16, 2026

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Friday, October 16, 2026

It’s Friday, Washington Democrats! 18 days until Election Day.

(Chair Conrad fires up canvassers)

What I’m Asking

As we head into the final weeks before the most important election of our lifetime, there’s important work happening across Washington, and your continual support helps make it possible. Contributing to WA Dems today will help us organize in every community, reach more voters, and elect leaders who share our values. Whether it’s $10, $25, or more, every donation strengthens our party and helps us keep moving Washington forward.

Working for Washington

Only 18 days remain before we elect Democrats up and down the ballot in every corner of our state. But that’s only if we get people to VOTE! Ballots are out statewide TODAY! So please, sign up for a volunteer shift today! We have some incredible opportunities coming up!

I would love nothing more than to canvass with all of you – so that’s why I hope to see you on Saturday in Bellingham (10AM) and Monroe (1PM). RSVP for Bellingham and Monroe for details. I can’t wait to see you there!

Also, if you are interested in signing up to join Washington Democrats’ Voter Protection Program, you can sign up here!

TOMORROW – No Kings: Vote Early. I’ll also attend a local No Kings rally encouraging voters to get their ballots in as early as possible. After your morning canvass shift, go to your nearest No Kings event and join us!

Saturday, October 17 – Team Patty Murray, Team Adam Smith and Team Marilyn Strickland are working together to send a bus of canvassers to the 3rd Congressional District to ensure Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez helps Democrats secure a strong and sizeable majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. We’d love to see you there! RSVP today!

TOMORROW – GOTV canvasses are happening all around the state. Sign up for one today!

SUNDAY – Our Ballot Drop Weekend of Action continues on Sunday. Find the canvass nearest you and help your neighbors get those ballots in! Sign up today!

MONDAY – Help support Democrats running for Congress in Eastern Washington. Carmela Conroy and John Duresky are running hard fought campaigns to fight for Democratic values and policies that will help Eastern and Central Washington thrive. Join me and special guest Former Governor Jay Inslee as well as an appearance virtually from Representative Jamie Raskin on Monday, October 19 in Seattle. Address provided upon RSVP. RSVP today!

Washington Democrats hosted our second voter protection Q&A with Secretary of State Steve Hobbs on Wednesday. It was a great discussion that demonstrated how prepared our state is to fight interference from the Trump-Vance administration and ensure our best-in-the-nation electoral system continues to operate at its peak. Ballots go out TODAY and it is vitally important that we get as many voters to participate and get their ballots into a secure, official, drop box as possible BEFORE Election Day. You can click on the image above or here to watch the whole thing!

Democrats Fight Back

Congresswoman Marie Glueksenkamp Perez has defeated State Senate Minority Leader John Braun every time they meet on the debate stage. While he resorts to lies, Congresswoman Perez is focused on delivering real results to the communities in Congressional District 3. This election is going to be close and we need everyone off the sidelines to ensure Marie can continue to deliver for Southwest Washington and prevent a rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s failed agenda from gaining a vote that could determine control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congressman Rick Larsen hosted a roundtable in Lynnwood to hear from constituents facing challenges accessing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP helps low-income families put food on the table and Congressional Republicans and the Trump administration cut funding for the program by $186 BILLION. Approximately 1 million Washingtonians use the program and more than 130,000 could lose their benefits if they don’t meet  new onerous work requirements. Congressman Larsen has been fighting to restore funding and once we elect him and a Democratic Congress we can begin clawing back the resources low-income Washingtonians need to thrive.

U.S. Senator Patty Murray brought together policy makers and experts to discuss how our state is regulating artificial intelligence and emphasizing the need for federal safeguards. Washington state is leading the country when it comes to AI safeguards, recently enacting bills to require digital media created or enhanced by AI to be more easily identifiable, prohibit chatbots from manipulating their users to increase engagement, and prohibit the distribution of AI-generated explicit content involving minors. Senator Murray is working alongside Senator Cantwell to create federal guidelines that will build on what Washington state has already accomplished and create more safety at the federal level. A true example of brining our Washington values to the other Washington!

We decide who represents us. We decide what comes next.

For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.

Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing the Tri-Cities together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.

Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do. On October 17th, join us in local events across the country as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.

    You’re Invited: B5’s Hair Raisin’ FUNraiser — October 28

    October 28, 2026  5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Pasco Red Lion

Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating B5 and the community that makes our work possible. This event brings together friends, donors, volunteers, partners, and community leaders for dinner, a silent auction, Raise the Paddle, a costume contest, and stories of the people whose lives are changing through B5. This year also marks an important moment in B5’s story. The evening will celebrate Theresa Roosendaal’s leadership at her final fundraiser as Executive Director while looking forward to the organization’s next chapter. B5 is more than a place where people learn English. It is a place where people find confidence, belonging, relationships, and voice. Join us October 28 and help build what comes next. Together, We Thrive.
