Washington Republicans are back in court trying to throw our state’s legislative maps into chaos, even though candidate filing has already closed.
Their goal? Undo new district maps that helped strengthen Latino representation in Central Washington and reopen the filing process just months before the August primary.
This comes right after the Supreme Court weakened key protections in the Voting Rights Act, opening the door for Republicans across the country to challenge maps and roll back representation for communities that fought for years to have their voices heard.
And with less than 3 months until the primary, they want to change the rules in the middle of the game.
It’s chaos by design.
