A recent report revealed what we’ve long suspected: Republican lawmakers were trading stocks around Trump’s tariff announcements, and profiting while their constituents paid the price.
The list is growing, and yes, it now includes the representative of Washington’s Fourth Congressional District, Dan Newhouse—the same lawmaker who sold out his district without a second thought during the reconciliation bill vote.
While farmers in his district are suffering from skyrocketing costs and retaliatory tariffs, his family is quietly benefiting from the same trade war that devastated rural Washington.
It’s disgraceful. But sadly, it’s not surprising.
These are the same Republicans who have sat by while Trump and Elon Musk slashed funding for working families, voted to oppose help for small businesses, and pushed to protect tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Now, we know they were also playing the stock market with insider knowledge all the while.
They are not fighting for us. They’re fighting for themselves.
We need to call this what it is: corruption, plain and simple. And we need to do what Washington Democrats do best: organize, expose the truth, and win.
If we want to hold Republicans accountable—in Congress, in Olympia, and across our state—we need to build the infrastructure now to take them on. Will you consider chipping in today to help us defeat Dan Newhouse and stop Republican corruption in its tracks?
