Happy Pride
Happy Pride Month! We’re celebrating the LGBTQIA+ Washingtonians who make our communities stronger, more loving, and more vibrant. From classrooms to workplaces to the Capitol, Pride is about dignity, equality, and the ongoing fight for full rights for everyone. No exceptions. No rollbacks.
I recorded a special Pride greeting. Check it out by clicking the image above or going here. Happy Pride!

Stand against hate in Washington state by joining the official launch rally on Wednesday, June 17 at 5:15PM at Neumos in Seattle. Join Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, King County Executive Girmay Zahilay, and Seattle City Councilmember Dionne Foster to help defeat the dangerous initiatives targeting non-binary and Queer children in our state! RSVP today!
Washington and Stonewall Democrats are celebrating Pride with a who’s who of elected officials and featuring a drag performance from Harper Bizarre! Washington state has led the nation and the world when it comes to embracing our LGBTQIA+ family, friends, and neighbors and this is our chance to celebrate joy while centering the voices who are fighting back against the Trump-Vance administration’s bigotry and hate. Working for Washington
In just a few weeks, more than 1,000 delegates will convene in person and virtually in Spokane at the 2026 Washington State Democratic Party Convention. Delegates will debate and pass a policy platform to serve as the guiding framework for our Party’s ideals and vision for the future.
We are pulling out all the stops to ensure everyone has a tremendous convention that will power us into the August 4 Primary election and onto the General Election! I am proud to announce that our Juneteenth Celebration of Black Excellence featuring Attorney General Nick Brown has already SOLD OUT and tickets for our Saturday night Convention Reception are going fast. If you’re joining us in Spokane and have been waiting to buy your tickets, hurry now so you don’t regret missing out later! You can buy tickets online for our Saturday night Convention Reception here. You do not need to be a delegate to attend our convention. Guests are more than welcome, but anyone attending the Saturday night Convention Reception will need a ticket. I can’t wait to see you there!
Last week, Washington Democrats Communications Director Stephen Reed appeared on TVW’s The Impact to provide our Party’s outlook on the 2026 elections. WAGOP Chair Jim Walsh made it clear the Republican strategy will be to label every Democratic candidate “far left” in an attempt to distract from the disastrous Trump-Vance economy and the policies that are making our nation more chaotic and less safe. Stephen went through the races we believe provide the best opportunity to expand our legislative majorities for the sixth cycle in a row and how we must win Congressional District 3 to ensure Democrats can restore accountability and oversight in the U.S. House of Representatives. You can watch the whole episode by clicking the image above or going here. The panel discussion begins around the 3:10 mark.
Democrats Fight Back
Governor Bob Ferguson signed an Executive Order this week that is keeping Washington state at the cutting edge of worker’s rights. His order, the first of its kind in the nation, directs state agencies to develop and adopt workplace accommodations for employees experiencing perimenopause and menopause. Once the state has identified and implemented best practices, private employers will have a guidebook to institute their own policies. Thank you, Governor Ferguson for blazing a trail on this important health condition that affects half our population!
We also learned this week that a new ranking shows Washington state has the second-best state economy in the nation! Thanks to Democratic leaders in Olympia and Washington, D.C. we are a hub for innovation, education, agriculture, and more!
U.S Senator Patty Murray is calling on her colleagues to stop a proposed Trump-Vance administration rule that would restrict vast swaths of funding in government grants touching health, housing, science, and transportation. The rule would completely politicize the federal grant process, threatening American prosperity and allowing Trump and his cronies to grift even more of our taxpayer dollars. Thank you, Senator Murray for fighting this ridiculous rule and providing an example of substantive and honorable leadership!
U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene is working to invest in America’s aging transportation infrastructure, introducing the American High Speed Rail Act. Congresswoman DelBene’s legislation would invest $200 billion over five years to build world-class high-speed passenger rail systems throughout the United States, including right here in Washington. Thank you, Congresswoman DelBene for fighting for modern transportation solutions!
Republican Congressmen Michael Baumgartner and Dan Newhouse voted for Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and now their constituents are paying the price. Eastern Washington saw some of the largest drops in healthcare enrollment through WA Health Plan Finder (our state’s health exchange under the Affordable Care Act). As subsidies expired, costs skyrocketed and Washingtonian families were forced to make the difficult decision to end their health insurance coverage. This impacts every Washingtonian because the more uninsured people there are, the more pressure is placed on Emergency Rooms, creating backups and longer lines. Washington Democrats know that when voters give us majorities in Congress, one of the first orders of business will be reigning in health care costs and putting “affordability” back into the Affordable Care Act.

Former President (and my former boss) Barack Obama penned a stirring and inspiring reflection on American values and our collective future for the In Pursuit substack. I encourage you to read the whole thing, but the passage that stuck with me was: “[Our] union is not simply a matter of law or accident of geography, but a moral commitment we make to our fellow citizens and our shared future. That democracies endure not only because of their constitutions or armies, but because free people choose, again and again, to bind their fates together.”
Thanks for all you do,
