This month, Washington took another step forward for working women.
Governor Bob Ferguson signed an executive order to support workers experiencing menopause and perimenopause, helping ensure women can thrive in the workplace at every stage of life.
For too long, menopause has been treated as something women are expected to navigate in silence, even when its effects can impact health, well-being, and careers. This executive order helps change that by creating resources, training, and workplace support that enable women to stay in the workforce with the dignity and respect they deserve.
As a woman, and as someone who believes our economy is strongest when everyone has the opportunity to succeed, I’m proud to see Washington leading on an issue that affects millions of women but is too often overlooked.
But progress like this doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens because Washington voters elect leaders willing to tackle the real challenges facing working families, even when those issues have been ignored for generations. And with critical elections ahead, we can’t afford to take that progress for granted.
When women succeed, Washington succeeds. Let’s keep building a state that works for everyone.
In solidarity,
Chair Shasti Conrad
