MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
It’s Friday, Washington Democrats!
Special Message
Wildfire season is in full swing, and communities throughout our state are being devastated by the ravages of climate change. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by these fires, and we thank the first responders who are working around the clock to save lives, livelihoods, and habitat. The Governor’s Office has compiled a list of Community Action Agencies assisting with recovery and emergency needs. Please consider supporting our neighbors by visiting the page to find ways to help.
The August 4 Primary is well underway. If you have not already, GET YOUR BALLOTS IN TODAY! We need everyone to fill those out as soon as possible and drop them in a secure, official ballot drop box. Find your nearest ballot box here. But voting is just the first step – once you’ve voted, sign up to volunteer here or jump right in and find your nearest volunteer opportunity here.
Democrats Fight Back
Attorney General Nick Brown scored a big victory this week, protecting Washington consumers and upholding our gambling laws by securing a preliminary injunction against Kalshi, an online “prediction market” that operates like an online gambling platform. AG Brown’s lawsuit seeks to halt Kalshi betting and recover money lost by Washingtonians. Thank you, AG Brown, for protecting Washington consumers from predatory prediction markets!
Congresswoman Suzan DelBene has been working night and day to secure Democratic victories that will achieve a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. Her leadership has helped campaigns in 72 districts across the country that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (the D-Triple-C, as politicos call it) has identified as battleground districts worthy of support. While families struggle to make ends meet, Trump has decided he needs a billion-dollar ballroom. At the same time, Rep. DelBene has been urging every Democratic campaign to focus on the pocketbook issues that will power our victories this fall. Thank you, Congresswoman DelBene, for leading the charge to secure a Democratic majority that will finally bring accountability and oversight to this lawless Trump-Vance regime.
Soccer superstar Megan Rapinoe was on ABC’s The View and discussed MAGA mega millionaire Brian Heywood’s dangerous I-638. Thank you, Megan, for sticking up for all girls in sports and working to keep Washington safer!
Working for Washington
Reports are picking up about ICE activity in Washington state. Make sure you know your constitutional rights and help spread the word to your neighbors and communities. Sign up to receive ICE Mobilization Alerts for communities in Washington state.
Neighbors are protecting neighbors throughout our state. As a surge of ICE enforcement operations occurs throughout Washington, regular people are being forced to confront the armed, masked, and unidentified federal agents in their neighborhoods. Thank you to everyone who is carrying whistles, spreading Know Your Rights literature, and looking out for their neighbors. Washington Democrats supported this press conference hosted by the WA4All Coalition, where Rep. Jayapal joined 200 other Democratic lawmakers to demand investigations into the latest ICE shootings. Find out how you can help by signing up to receive ICE Mobilization Alerts for communities in Washington state. Sign up here.
Hundreds of Walla Walla residents are dropping their health insurance because of Congressional Republicans’ failure to contain healthcare costs. This will create a ripple effect, making healthcare more costly even for those with health insurance, as emergency rooms are strained by overcapacity and medical debt balloons. Republican Michael Baumgartner voted for this mess – now we need to educate voters and flip the 5th Congressional District. Sign up for a volunteer shift today!
Washington Democrats have been organizing and working around the state to get voters to turn in their ballots for the August 4 Primary Election. See below for a list of upcoming canvasses and phone banks, or you can always go to our website to find the event nearest you. This week, I traveled to Washington, D.C., for DNC meetings planning the 2028 Primary Calendar. It is my goal to ensure that the Western United States is represented among the early primary dates so that our issues are front and center for the candidates seeking the Oval Office. We’re going to keep our momentum going throughout the summer and all the way to November to ensure Democrats win up and down the ballot so we can start reversing the damage from this Republican trifecta!
On Wednesday, July 29, Ben Wikler will be discussing his book “This is the Plan” at a private reception before his book tour event at Town Hall Seattle. If you would like to meet Ben in a more private setting, RSVP here. The reception begins at 4 PM, and there is no cost to attend. I hope you can make it!

WHAT I’M READING
The DNC is building a Democratic Party that can win the moment and win the future,
DNC Chair Ken Martin
You may have seen chatter about financial turmoil at the DNC. Nothing could be further from the truth, as the DNC has raised more than at any other point in its history when Democrats have not controlled the White House. Instead of hoarding cash for the final days of the campaign, the DNC is investing in durable, permanent party infrastructure in every state and territory, not just the battlegrounds, so we can protect blue seats, flip purple ones, and turn red seats purple. This is exactly the ethos that Washington Democrats have long been calling for: year-round organizing that builds durable relationships rather than treating voters as a resource to be extracted every two to four years.
Thanks for all you do,

Chair Shasti Conrad
Washington State Democratic Party
