WSDCC – February 13, 2026

Posted on February 13, 2026

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Happy Friday, Washington Democrats! The Hawks won the Super Bowl!

(Chair Shasti Conrad at the Super Bowl)

What an incredible ride it was to follow the Seattle Seahawks this season. I had the amazing opportunity to be at the game in person and it was so emotional to see this team play their hearts out and absolutely dominate the Patriots – which means that the Massachusetts Democrats owe our volunteers some lunch!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and Washington Democrats wish you and your loved ones joy and companionship to celebrate! I’m also a big fan of Galentine’s Day and celebrating all of the people we love. Choose love. As Bad Bunny (and MLK) said, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

Democrats Fight Back

(Washington State Speaker of the House Laurie Jinkins fires up the Rally for Revenue)

Washington Democrats are celebrating an important step in advancing the Millionaires’ Tax through the state legislature. On Tuesday, Washington Democrats attended the Millionaires Tax Rally with our allies who are pushing to ensure the wealthiest Washingtonians pay their fair share and rightsize our regressive tax structure. Rallygoers heard from home caregivers, teachers, and elected officials like Speaker Jinkins, Representative April Berg, and Representative Natasha Hill.

(L: Rep. April Berg; R: Rep. Natasha Hill at the Rally for Revenue)

(Rep. Jayapal grills AG Bondi)

This week, U.S. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal grilled U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi over her handling of the Epstein files, revealing that none of the women victimized by Epstein had been questioned by the Department of Justice. As AG Bondi refused to apologize to the victims for failing to redact their names (while still redacting those accused of heinous crimes), it was ALSO revealed that AG Bondi had spied on Congress members who searched the unredacted Epstein files to discover which search terms they had used. This chilling breach of the separation of powers enshrined in the U.S. Constitution would result in firings or resignations in normal times. While the Trump administration continues to flout the law and our Constitution, Congress member Jayapal will continue to fight for justice for those who survived Epstein’s predations and accountability for his co-conspirators.

When We Count Fellowship
I’m excited to share with you the DNC’s new organizing effort, the When We Count Fellowship. This is a new DNC program to build Democratic voter registration in key states – and you can be part of it. Apply to be a When We Count Fellow and join a national cohort of emerging organizers who will make the difference in upcoming elections. Apply today!

Delegate Election Process for 2026 State Convention
Every two years, Washington Democrats host a state convention for delegates across the state to vote on amendments to the party platform, resolutions, and charter and bylaw amendments. Any self-identified Democrat in Washington state may run to be elected as a delegate to the state convention. I encourage you to run! This year’s Convention will be in Spokane, June 19-21!

Delegates impact our official positions on today’s biggest policy issues, represent their community’s needs and values, connect with leaders from around the state, and teach and learn more about the Washington Democrats alongside other activists and party members.

Anyone willing to publicly identify as a Democrat may run to be a delegate. There is no age limit, but candidates must reside in the legislative district for which they are running to be a delegate. 1,171 state delegates will be elected alongside 490 alternates from Washington’s 49 legislative districts. State delegates will be elected by their Legislative District Party Organizations (LPOs) to represent their district at the 2026 Washington State Democratic Convention. The Online Delegate Self-Nomination Portal is open at this link. Those with questions should email partyaffairs@wa-democrats.org. The deadline to apply is February 20 at 5PM.

Time is running out to vote! Drop your ballot off at one of these ballot boxes: www.bentoncountywa.gov/government/elected_officials/auditor/elections/current_election/drop_boxes...If you know someone: a parent, sibling or friend, who doesn’t vote because they have a feeling it doesn’t matter.... Tell them to vote for their kids, to vote for their brother or sister, for their neighbor. It might matter to that other person and we are MUCH stronger when we do things for each other... not for ourselves. #vote #franklincountywa #bentoncountywa #tricities ... See MoreSee Less

In recognition of the opening of the Center for Recovery, the August 5 Badger Club Forum will feature an important conversation about causes, prevention and treatment of addiction. Two experts will consider what addiction is; the gap between what we know and what we do; what the community is and can be doing; what families need to know; and substance abuse prevention and looking to the future.
