My heart is heavy today.
Over the weekend, devastating fires swept through the Spokane area, destroying hundreds of homes, forcing tens of thousands of our neighbors to evacuate, and upending lives in a matter of hours.
To everyone affected: please know that the Washington State Democratic Party stands with you. We’re holding your families, your communities, and the first responders working tirelessly to contain these fires in our thoughts.
If you’re looking for ways to help those impacted, we’ve gathered resources and relief information here:
Governor’s Washington Wildfire Resources
Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund (Innovia Foundation)
American Red Cross Northwest Region
Catholic Charities Eastern Washington
Second Harvest Inland Northwest (seeking nonperishable food): open 8 AM-4 PM at 1234 E. Front Avenue, Spokane, WA.
Project Beauty Share (seeking new personal hygiene products): purchase through their Amazon wishlist: here.
Because tomorrow is Election Day, I also want to share one important reminder. Some ballots may have been lost to the flames.
You can check whether your ballot has been received at www.VoteWA.gov. If you believe your ballot was destroyed or never arrived, you can print a replacement ballot or contact your local elections office for assistance.
In moments like these, Washington always shows up for one another. Thank you for caring for your neighbors, supporting those in need, and keeping everyone affected in your thoughts.
Take care,
Chair Shasti Conrad
