We know it’s hard right now. The bans, the rollbacks, the cruelty dressed up as policy.
But bell hooks taught us something we refuse to forget: love is not a feeling. Love is a practice. She wrote that choosing love means moving against domination and toward freedom.
When fascism wants us isolated, love draws us together. When the powerful want us too exhausted to fight, love keeps us marching. Not sentimental love — love that demands justice, shows up, and builds something better.
Hopelessness is what they need us to feel so we stop showing up. We won’t.
We walk away from despair. We walk toward each other.
