WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – March 25, 2026

Posted on March 25, 2026

[Español Abajo]

Last Thursday marked the end of the 2026 Washington Legislative Session, and immigrant communities throughout Washington truly showed up. Week after week, you rallied with us in Olympia, demonstrated your support for crucial legislation, wrote letters to decision-makers, and contributed in countless other ways.

Because of our collective strength, we secured major victories that build the rights and power of immigrants and refugees in WA, including:

  • A Domestic Worker’s Bill of Rights, ensuring basic workplace rights and protections like the right to a minimum wage to thousands of WA nannies, house cleaners, gardeners, and other domestic workers — jobs where immigrants are more than twice as likely to be employed¹.
  • Stronger tools for the Attorney General to investigate violations of state laws like the Keep Washington Working Act, which means stronger accountability for agencies who fail to uphold the laws designed to protect immigrant rights.
  • A ban on law enforcement officers hiding behind masks, which strike fear and confusion in our communities and keep officers from being held accountable for their actions.
  • Worker protections requiring adequate notice before federal inspections of employment documents, so that immigrant workers get the same information their employers do, and can return home from work safely.
  • A new tax on some of the state’s wealthiest residents to fund vital services for Washingtonians regardless of immigration status, and expand the Working Family Tax Credit so that 460,000 additional low-income households can get cash back in their pockets.
  • Full funding at $25M for another year of support services through the WA State Department of Social & Health Services Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (DSHS-ORIA) and the WA Migrant & Asylum-Seeker Support project (WAMASS) with new flexibility to respond as federal attacks on immigrant communities continue to escalate.

But we also saw lawmakers cut funding for Apple Health Expansion and water down important bills like the Driver Privacy Act in a moment that demands more from our elected leaders—not less.

This session might be over, but know that our organizing is not. We’ve secured incredible wins for Washington’s immigrant communities, but the only way to truly win the fights ahead is by being able to keep pushing forward longer than the people trying to wear us down.

Can you chip in whatever you can to help sustain the work that made this session’s wins possible, and build the power we’ll need to see all of our priorities become law in 2027?

DONATE NOW

The path to our collective liberation runs through sustained, strategic organizing that builds unstoppable momentum. Thank you for being by our side as we transform what it looks like for Washington to truly be a place where every one of us can thrive.

In community,

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network
