WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – March 12, 2026

Posted on March 12, 2026

[Español Abajo]

WAISN’s Deportation Defense Hotline and Rapid Response Teams receive reports related to immigration enforcement activity across WA, including calls for post-detention support, sightings of immigration enforcement, and urgent alerts about detentions.

To help ensure you and your loved ones stay informed, we’re sharing some information on the reports we received in January of this year, the trends our Rapid Response Teams are seeing, and how communities can show up to protect each other.

These numbers are not just statistics, they reflect stories of family separation, surveillance, and intimidation tactics that sometimes lead to deadly consequences.

Almost 100 reports of immigration enforcement activity came through WAISN’s Deportation Defense Hotline and Rapid Response Teams in January, here’s what we saw:

Reports and Detentions by County: We were able to confirm 20 reports of immigration detentions across Washington, with hotspots in King, Whatcom, and Snohomish counties—and especially in the cities of Seattle and Bellingham.

Trends to Watch: Streets, public areas, and parking lots are where community members most often reported seeing immigration enforcement agents. We’ve continued to receive reports of agents using unmarked vehicles, wearing face coverings, and vests from multiple agencies including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as vests marked “POLICE.” We also had one report of the presence of a local sheriff’s department vehicle at a detention.¹

We’ve also seen a pattern of immigration enforcement targeting outdoor day laborer hiring sites. At least three separate incidents occurred in King and Snohomish counties, all using similar tactics: multiple unmarked vehicles arriving quickly, agents in masks and tactical gear, and operations completed quickly, usually within less than 30 minutes.

Two ways to support community members impacted by these worrying trends:

  • Join a Rapid Response team – we offer two online training sessions each month so you can receive training from home and plug into a team in your area. We are particularly looking to expand or build teams in King County (especially Kent, Auburn, Renton, and Shoreline), and Whatcom, Yakima, Grant and Adams counties.
  • Adopt a Day Labor Corner – the National Day Laborer Organizing Network is building a network of solidarity at hiring sites across the country and could use your help!

A note on how we create these updates: These reports are not meant to be real-time alerts of enforcement. We prioritize accuracy over speed, only sharing trend reports once the immigration activity patterns are verified and can be responsibly contextualized.

If you see immigration enforcement first-hand or a loved one has been detained, please text or call the WAISN Hotline at 1-844-724-3737 from Monday through Friday 6am-6pm.

If your call is not answered, text the Hotline number letting us know what you are calling about in detail, and we will try to follow up.

When reporting immigration enforcement activity, try to provide as many details with documentation as possible, including:

  • Date and time of sighting and activity
  • Street name and description of the area where it happened
  • Pictures and videos of the interaction
  • Descriptions of what agents were doing and wearing, and what vehicles were present

We all have constitutional rights regardless of immigration status. You are not alone. Please know that WAISN is here to support you. Our Rapid Response teams are ready, and our network remains alert—it was built for this moment.

In the face of threats and attacks on our collective safety, community will prevail.

In solidarity,

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network

  1. We have received a few reports like this, and will continue to monitor and provide an update as this could qualify as a violation of Keep Washington Working and/or Courts Open to All.
