In case you hadn’t heard, the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network is turning ten this year!
We came together in 2016 during a time of growing fear and uncertainty for immigrant communities to create WAISN because no one else was coming to save us. We chose to act on the collective power of our communities, not as saviors but as siblings: a statewide coalition of directly impacted queer and transgender immigrants, organizers, unions, youth groups, faith communities, service providers, and immigrant- and refugee-led organizations who refused to let others dictate our future.
For a decade, this network has been led and run by people who share the lived experiences of the communities we organize with—supporting our ability to protect one another, take action together, and have a say in determining our future.
We’re celebrating WAISN’s 10th anniversary year with the theme Horizons — and to mark the moment, we’re refreshing our logo and visual identity everywhere we show up in 2026!
For us, Horizons are not abstract. They are the communities we have not yet reached, the policies we have not yet won, the relationships we have not yet built, and the people who will carry this work forward in ways we cannot yet imagine.
Horizons connect us across distance—across borders, cultures, languages, histories, and lived experiences—reminding us that the future of our shared horizon is shaped by what we are actively creating together today.
Over the next few months, we’re going to share stories and reflections and celebrate some of our biggest wins from the last ten years. The campaigns we’ve led and joined, the critical infrastructure our communities have built together like the Deportation Defense Hotline, the Fair Fight Bond Fund, and the Resource Finder, the lessons we’ve learned, and the future we’re still working toward.
As we celebrate this milestone, we honor every person who has contributed their time, labor, leadership, courage, care, resources, and presence to the immigrant justice movement in Washington over the last ten years. This celebration belongs to all of us.
Together, we’ve persevered through so much, and we honor the joy that has carried us every step of the way. In a moment when immigrant communities are living in an environment of fear and criminalization, boldly celebrating our shared dignity is revolutionary. Our joy is a political statement that not only are we here, but we are also joyous together.

Por si no lo sabía, ¡la Red de Solidaridad de Inmigrantes en Washington cumple diez años!
Nos unimos por primera vez en el 2016, en un momento de miedo y de incertidumbre para nuestras comunidades de inmigrantes, para fundar WAISN ya que sabíamos que nadie nos iba a venir a salvar. Fue entonces cuando decidimos empezar a movilizarnos a través del poder colectivo de nuestras comunidades, no como salvadores, sino desde la hermandad: una coalición estatal formada por inmigrantes queer y transgénero directamente impactados por el sistema de migracion, activistas, sindicatos, grupos juveniles, comunidades religiosas, proveedores de servicios y organizaciones lideradas por inmigrantes y refugiados que nos negamos a dejar que otras personas decidieran nuestro futuro.
Durante una década, esta red ha sido liderada y gestionada por personas que comparten las experiencias de vida de las comunidades con las que trabajamos, lo que nos ayuda a protegernos de manera conjunta, a tomar acción colectiva y a participar activamente en las decisiones sobre nuestro futuro.
Estamos celebrando el décimo aniversario de WAISN con el tema de “Horizontes”, y para celebrar este momento, vamos a renovar nuestro logotipo y nuestra identidad visual en todos los lugares donde nos presentemos en el 2026.
Para nuestra organización, la idea de “Horizontes” no es algo abstracto. Se refiere a las comunidades que aún estamos por llegar, las políticas que aún nos quedan por ganar, las relaciones que aún estamos por construir y las personas que llevarán adelante este trabajo de formas que aún no podemos imaginar. Los horizontes nos conectan a través de la distancia —más allá de fronteras, culturas, idiomas, historias y experiencias de vida— y nos recuerdan que el futuro de nuestro horizonte compartido está determinado por lo que estamos creando juntos día a día.
En los próximos meses, vamos a compartir historias y reflexiones, y a celebrar algunos de nuestros mayores logros de los últimos diez años. Las campañas que hemos liderado y en las que hemos participado, las infraestructuras esenciales que nuestras comunidades han construido juntas, como la Línea de Defensa contra la Deportación, el Fondo de Fianzas Lucha Justa y el Buscador de Recursos, las lecciones que hemos aprendido y el futuro por el que seguimos luchando.
Al celebrar este logro, queremos rendir homenaje a todas las personas que han aportado su tiempo, esfuerzo, liderazgo, valentía, compromiso y presencia al movimiento por la justicia para la comunidad inmigrante en Washington durante los últimos diez años. Esta celebración nos pertenece.
De manera conjunta hemos perseverado a través de tantas cosas y queremos honrar la alegría que nos ha acompañado en cada paso del camino. En un momento en el que las comunidades de inmigrantes viven en un ambiente de miedo y criminalización, celebrar con valentía nuestra dignidad compartida es revolucionario. Nuestra alegría es una declaración política de que, además de estar aquí, estamos aquí para compartir la alegría que nos une.
