WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – July 30, 2026

Posted on July 30, 2026

[Español Abajo]

Our Deportation Defense Hotline and Rapid Response Teams receive reports related to immigration enforcement activity across Washington, including sightings of immigration operations, alerts about detentions, and calls for post-detention support.

To help you stay informed, we’re sharing some information on the confirmed reports we received in June. These numbers are not just statistics. They reflect stories of family separation, surveillance, and intimidation tactics that sometimes lead to deadly consequences.

June Immigration Activity in Washington

In June, 61 reports of immigration enforcement activity came through the WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline and Rapid Response Teams.

We were able to confirm the detention of 58 people, with 21 of those detentions occurring during an immigration raid in Mason County on June 28. The heaviest confirmed activity was recorded in Mason, King, and Whatcom counties—with  particular hotspots in Shelton, Lynden, and Burien.

During the raid in Mason County on June 28, where 21 people were detained, we received reports that this event was not limited to a specific business or location. It appeared to be a coordinated, large-scale operation involving numerous agents and at least 10 vehicles moving through the town, knocking on doors of homes and targeting common gathering places.

Changes in Immigration Enforcement We’re Seeing

In April, we began seeing a shift in the tactics immigration enforcement agencies are using in Washington. Between April and June, the average number of monthly detentions confirmed by the Hotline and Rapid Response Teams was 140% higher than January-March.

During this time period, King, Whatcom, and Mason Counties each accounted for roughly a quarter of all detentions reported across the state. Given their population size, it’s clear that Whatcom and Mason counties have been disproportionately impacted.

Whatcom County has been consistently targeted, with 70 detentions reported so far this year, more than half occurring in April and May. 30% of these detentions were during traffic stops, 34% in public areas and parking lots, and 12% at or near courthouses. Local Rapid Response Teams are activating almost daily to verify and document reports and support impacted families on the ground.

Building Rapid Response capacity in every corner of the state is how we make sure no one is left without support when they need it. We want to make sure we can quickly and effectively show up for the community in moments like this, but we need your help to do it.

Join our next Rapid Response training on August 3 at 6 PM. This event is virtual, free, and bilingual in English and Spanish—other languages can be requested in the registration form or emailing language@waisn.org

LEARN MORE/SIGN UP

Around half of the detentions reported in June occurred during traffic stops or in public spaces like parking lots. Because of this, we are receiving increased reports of vehicles being left abandoned at the scene, with many families struggling to cover high towing and impound fees or being unable to recover their vehicles at all. Creating a safety plan with a power of attorney can help families be prepared. The Legal Counsel for Youth and Children has a template you can use, and they offer support with making your plan.

These reports are informed directly by our Rapid Response Teams and calls to the Hotline from everyday people who refuse to let these agencies act in the shadows. While we prioritize accuracy over speed and only share verified patterns, your contributions are what makes this community-led reporting possible.

See immigration enforcement first-hand? Text or call the WAISN Hotline at 1-844-724-3737—if we do not answer, text us the details, and we will follow up. What to include in your report >>

We all have constitutional rights regardless of immigration status. You are not alone. Please know that WAISN is here to support you. Our Rapid Response and Accompaniment Teams are ready, and our network remains alert—it was built for this moment.

In the face of threats and attacks on our collective safety, community will prevail.

In solidarity,

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network

[ENGLISH ABOVE]

Our iconic Rattlesnake Mountain is known as Laliik to Native Americans, for whom the mountain has been sacred for millennia.  The oft repeated and dubious local claim that it's the tallest treeless mountain neglects the true significance of its geology and ecology.  Its incorporation into the Hanford Site in 1943 initiated a complex history of federal involvement, culminating in its current and persistent off-limits status.

This forum will describe the mountain's history, geology, ecology, and cultural significance and seek to understand perspectives on possible futures for one of the region's treasures.

Round Table Pizza, 3201 W Court St, Pasco, WA 99301, USA

It's September, and time for our monthly gathering. We'll meet on September 11 at 6pm.  We are inviting candidates who have made it through the primary to come visit with us. We will also have 'Hate Has no Home Here' and 'Vote Blue' signs available.

We are hoping that the weather will cooperate for a picnic at the farm - 4501 W Lattin Ct, West Richland, WA. If it's hot, we have plenty of shade and misters and sprinklers to take the edge off the heat. If it's cool, we have firepits and patio heaters to take the edge off the chill. We have the Pasco Round Table reserved in the event that the weather does not cooperate, and we'll make a final announcement on Wednesday the 9th. Come gather with like-minded folks and share some fellowship, food and beverages. If we are picnicking, bring a dish to share, and Tri-City Democrats will provide utensils and plates, and napkins. If we're at the pizza location, TCD will purchase an assortment of pizzas to share. You're on your own for salad bar and beverages, though there are usually pitchers of beer provided by fellow members. We'll have the donation box available for those who care to financially support the group.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this forum will detail how remarkable it and the Constitution were. Professors Jamie Mayerfeld (UW) and Johann Neem (WWU) will explain how Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, and others, based on principles gleaned from the ancient history of the Greeks and Romans, along with contemporary ideas of the Enlightenment, forged an unprecedented synthesis, resulting in a paradigm shift in governance from monarchy to self-determination.

    It wasn’t easy.

In this hybrid program these professors will explain the context, the struggles, and the underlying principles anchored in these two founding documents to help us gain a deeper appreciation of how our country brought forth a new age of liberty and governance, one determined by “We the People….”
