WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – February 7, 2025

Posted on February 7, 2025

[Español Abajo]

Now more than ever, we need everyone in Washington to step up for immigrant justice.

Migration has shaped my family for generations: my parents and grandparents left their hometowns in Michoacán, Guerrero, and Oaxaca to seek opportunities in California and Mexico City. I’ve always carried these stories with me and they’ve inspired me to dedicate my life to fighting for the dignity of all migrants and refugees.

I know right now is a stressful time, but despite threats to silence us, last week I saw hundreds of allies from across the state stand up for immigrant communities at the biggest IRAD in WAISN’s history. Now, I’m excited to build on this momentum and deepen our collective power as a coalition to meet this moment.

If you know of, or are part of an organization fighting for immigrant justice, I want to invite you to join the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) as an official organizational member!

WAISN Organizational Membership is a statewide and intersectional paid membership model where your organizational superpowers and capacity can both support immigrant justice and receive support from the entire WAISN network.

Becoming a WAISN Organizational Member will give you access to:

  • Guidance from immigrant justice movement-building experts, analysis, and discussions.
  • Organizing, policy, and advocacy leadership opportunities through WAISN initiatives.
  • Ongoing language justice support for your organization, including access to WAISN’s interpretation equipment.
  • Critical trainings and statewide gatherings including Rapid Response and Know Your Rights.
  • A professional and personal community and solidarity within a diverse progressive network rooted in WAISN’s feminist, decolonial, transnational and intersectional values.

I’m proud to be leading the effort to grow this vibrant coalition of organizations committed to challenging hate and those who try to divide us. We’ve faced these threats before, and our movement for immigrant justice has only grown bigger and stronger—but we need all hands on deck to defend our rights with every ounce of strength we have here in Washington.

Join WAISN’s Organizational Membership!

If you have any questions, register for a Membership info session, email me at adriana@waisn.org and I’ll make sure to reach out, or feel free to schedule a one-on-one meeting with me! I hope you’ll join us in expanding this unbreakable network of care and resilience.

In Solidarity,

Adriana Cortés

P.S. We’ll be rolling out an individual membership program later this year, so stay tuned!

[English Above]

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, support for public health policies has gradually declined. At the federal level certain policies and practices regarding vaccines have been thrown into question.

Vaccine proponents note the long-time and widespread benefits of the traditional MMR vaccine; vaccine skeptics generally insist it causes autism. Some say the approval process (Operation Warp Speed for Covid-19) was either rushed or rigged; others say the process was instrumental in reducing suffering and saved the lives of millions of people.
