WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – February 1, 2025

Posted on February 1, 2025

[Español Abajo]

This week we made history.

Over 500 immigrants, refugees, and allies from all across Washington gathered in Olympia for the largest Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Day (IRAD) in the history of the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network. We marched, we rallied, and we demanded that our lawmakers stand with us and fight for our immigrant and refugee communities.

And we did this despite threats to tear our families apart in an attempt to silence our movement, because we refuse to back down and let fear win.

At a time when attacks on immigrants are escalating across the country, here in Washington, we are proving that another future is possible: a future where immigrants and refugees are not just safe but can thrive.

For nine years, WAISN has been building a movement rooted in solidarity, justice, and the leadership of those most impacted by an unjust immigration system, including queer and trans immigrants, undocumented workers, and refugees. This year’s IRAD was proof of our collective strength—that no threat, no rumor of immigration enforcement, and no act of cruelty will deter us from fighting for justice, dignity, and humanity for immigrants and refugees across our state.

But our work does not end here. IRAD is not just a moment, it’s a movement for justice that honors the sacrifices of those who came before us and paves the way for a brighter future. The community, love, and collective power we’ve cultivated here in Washington must continue to grow to meet the challenges ahead

So if you are in a place to do so, can you make a donation today to support our work and fuel this fight for immigrant justice?

MAKE A DONATION

Together, we are sending a loud and clear message: Washington stands with immigrants- all immigrants. We will not be silenced. We will not be divided. And we will not rest until every family feels safe, every worker feels valued, and every Washingtonian has access to healthcare.

Together, we are unstoppable.

In solidarity,

Catalina Velasquez

Pronouns: She/Her

Executive Director

[English Above]

No seremos silenciados. No seremos divididos.
