WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – April 28, 2026

Posted on April 28, 2026

[Español Abajo]

WAISN’s Deportation Defense Hotline and Rapid Response Teams receive reports related to immigration enforcement activity across Washington, including calls for post-detention support, sightings of immigration enforcement, and urgent alerts about detentions.

To help ensure you and your loved ones stay informed, we’re sharing some information on the reports we received from March 15–March 31, the trends our Rapid Response teams are seeing, and how communities can show up to protect each other.

These numbers are not just statistics, they reflect stories of family separation, surveillance, and intimidation tactics that sometimes lead to deadly consequences.

20 reports of immigration enforcement activity came through the WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline and Rapid Response Teams in the second half of March. Here’s what we saw:

Reports and Detentions by County: We were able to confirm the detention of eight people, with the heaviest confirmed activity in Whatcom, Thurston and King counties—and particular hotspots in Everson, Olympia and Burien.

Trends to watch: Most reports of immigration enforcement are still happening in public places in the community, on the way to and from work, or during the workday itself. About half of all confirmed detentions in this period happened during traffic stops, and most during the morning hours.

We’re also seeing a pattern of immigration enforcement agencies appearing to mostly target specific people, with reports including accounts of community members being surveilled or followed before being confronted in a public location. However, this can sometimes lead to collateral warrantless detentions. In at least one report, agents were searching for a specific person, only to confront and detain a community member who simply shared a similar name.

To help support community members impacted by this trend, join a Rapid Response team to help expand our network of visibility and confirm reports of immigration enforcement.

We offer two online training sessions each month—the next one is April 30—so you can get trained from home and plug into a team near you. We are particularly looking to expand or build teams in King County (especially Kent, Auburn, Renton, and Shoreline), and Whatcom, Yakima, Benton/Franklin, Grant and Adams counties.

A note on how we create these updates: These reports are not meant to be real-time alerts of enforcement. We prioritize accuracy over speed, only sharing trend reports once the immigration activity patterns are verified and can be responsibly contextualized.

If you see immigration enforcement first-hand or a loved one has been detained, please text or call the WAISN Hotline at 1-844-724-3737 from Monday through Friday 6am-6pm.

If your call is not answered, text the Hotline number letting us know what you are calling about in detail, and we will try to follow up.

When reporting immigration enforcement activity, try to provide as many details with documentation as possible, including:

  • Date and time of sighting and activity
  • Street name and description of the area where it happened
  • Pictures and videos of the interaction
  • Descriptions of what agents were doing and wearing, and what vehicles were present

We all have constitutional rights regardless of immigration status. You are not alone. Please know that WAISN is here to support you. Our Rapid Response teams are ready, and our network remains alert—it was built for this moment.

In the face of threats and attacks on our collective safety, community will prevail.

In solidarity,

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network

Our iconic Rattlesnake Mountain is known as Laliik to Native Americans, for whom the mountain has been sacred for millennia.  The oft repeated and dubious local claim that it's the tallest treeless mountain neglects the true significance of its geology and ecology.  Its incorporation into the Hanford Site in 1943 initiated a complex history of federal involvement, culminating in its current and persistent off-limits status.

This forum will describe the mountain's history, geology, ecology, and cultural significance and seek to understand perspectives on possible futures for one of the region's treasures.

It's September, and time for our monthly gathering. We'll meet on September 11 at 6pm.  We are inviting candidates who have made it through the primary to come visit with us. We will also have 'Hate Has no Home Here' and 'Vote Blue' signs available.

We are hoping that the weather will cooperate for a picnic at the farm - 4501 W Lattin Ct, West Richland, WA. If it's hot, we have plenty of shade and misters and sprinklers to take the edge off the heat. If it's cool, we have firepits and patio heaters to take the edge off the chill. We have the Pasco Round Table reserved in the event that the weather does not cooperate, and we'll make a final announcement on Wednesday the 9th. Come gather with like-minded folks and share some fellowship, food and beverages. If we are picnicking, bring a dish to share, and Tri-City Democrats will provide utensils and plates, and napkins. If we're at the pizza location, TCD will purchase an assortment of pizzas to share. You're on your own for salad bar and beverages, though there are usually pitchers of beer provided by fellow members. We'll have the donation box available for those who care to financially support the group.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this forum will detail how remarkable it and the Constitution were. Professors Jamie Mayerfeld (UW) and Johann Neem (WWU) will explain how Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, and others, based on principles gleaned from the ancient history of the Greeks and Romans, along with contemporary ideas of the Enlightenment, forged an unprecedented synthesis, resulting in a paradigm shift in governance from monarchy to self-determination.

    It wasn’t easy.

In this hybrid program these professors will explain the context, the struggles, and the underlying principles anchored in these two founding documents to help us gain a deeper appreciation of how our country brought forth a new age of liberty and governance, one determined by “We the People….”
