Ballots are out, and November 5th is fast approaching. Now is the time to make history, make change, and ensure we elect a Democratic Commissioner of Public Lands who will manage our public lands in the public interest for all of the people..
Our campaign received a strong endorsement this week from Seattle’s influential newspaper, The Stranger. This follows endorsements from the Tri-City Herald, The Seattle Gay News, The Northwest Asian Weekly, and the Urbanist.
The Stranger editorial provides a thoughtful analysis and defense of the science behind my proposals. It also points out that my opponent is bankrolled by the logging industry and that she openly mocks and belittles people who care about conservation. The editorial importantly notes that “The choice between saving the trees and saving rural economies is a false one– we can and should do both.”
In a reference to the popular Dr. Seuss book, the Lorax, the editorial affectionately calls me the “gay Lorax”– for speaking for the trees and people and communities who rely upon them.
But as the Lorax famously said, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
I can’t do this without more help. I wish I didn’t have to ask for money, but this race is going to be very close– and reaching the remaining undecided voters is costly. And the logging industry just put half a million dollars into a political action committee for my opponent.
Will you chip in $25, $50, $100, $250 or any amount up to $2400 to help us reach undecided voters before it’s too late? Your contribution ensures we have the resources to compete in these final days.
Polling shows I can win but it will be close.
Let’s give it all we’ve got. I know we both care a lot. Let’s protect our state’s future, together.
Gratefully,
Dave
P.S. Ballots must be postmarked by November 5th or dropped in a secure drop box. Let’s make every day count!
