Friends,
As the post Memorial Day campaign season gets underway, we must keep in mind the safety of Washington’s election workers and their families.
In a recent bipartisan interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press”, my colleagues from Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia stressed they’re ready to execute a safe and secure presidential election, despite previous threats to election workers.
Here in Washington, I’m proud of leaders like Rep. Mari Leavitt (D-University Place) for passing legislation which makes threats against election workers a class C felony. Unfortunately, some Republicans still disagree with this commonsense measure, which is why I need your support to amplify our winning message.
At the Republican State Party Convention, the GOP endorsed Dale Whitaker for Secretary of State. Dale is running on a platform to end our vote-by-mail election system – a system which is accessible, secure, and convenient. Right now, county auditors are in the early stages of hiring hundreds of seasonal election workers for what will surely be a busy presidential cycle. Meanwhile, Dale has demonstrated his disrespect for our auditors by calling the Washington State Association of County Auditors a “crock” at a recent GOP gathering.
Dale is the only Republican running for Secretary of State in a crowded primary, and that alone means he could be the top vote-getter in the primary election.
That’s why I need your help today. Please contribute to this campaign so we have the resources to make a strong statement for democracy.
I will always stand with Washington’s election workers and our proven and dependable vote-by-mail system. As your Secretary of State, my top priorities are ensuring Washington’s elections are secure and accessible for every eligible voter.
Thank you for your support.
Steve
