Friends,

As your Secretary of State, my top priorities are ensuring that our elections are secure and accessible to every eligible voter.

That means fighting a Republican Party that prioritizes ending vote-by-mail elections. Seriously, it is in their 2024 platform! The Seattle Times | The WA GOP put it in writing that they’re not into democracy

At their convention, Washington State Republicans endorsed “America first, Washington state first” Republican candidate Dale Whitaker, who shouted with Trumpian gusto, “I am going to be a loud, proud defender of American liberty!” Loud, anyway…

Dwight Schrute would appreciate Dale’s speech.

Even more concerning, he and Washington State Republicans made their top elections priority clear: “I will fight for same-day, in-person voting.” The America First Republican plan is to make it more difficult to cast your vote, especially if you have a disability, live in a rural area, do not drive or generally need an active, government-issued photo ID, or who may have neither the time or ability to wait in long lines. They want to turn the clock backward on the voting accessibility we have achieved.

I am fighting to make advancements in security and accessibility.

Your vote in the August primary election will indicate whether you want to protect our vote-by-mail system that empowers more Washingtonians to participate equitably. I would appreciate your support in protecting the progress we have made, and reaching forward.

-Steve
