“Whenever I saw racial justice-aligned signs, I approached the person and said I was a volunteer with SURJ and asked if they would take a flyer explaining what we were about. Everyone I offered the paper to took it. Many people thanked me for the opportunity to be involved after. I asked them to join us for a broader movement of action-aligned work after the protest because at SURJ we know that is how we can make true and lasting change.” – Meredith, Iowa City SURJ member
While MAGA and ICE continue their attacks, the mass resistance is powerful and growing by the day. This past weekend, the No Kings Day protests topped the last ones, with over seven million people in the streets. Getting millions of white people in the streets is powerful, but we need those people to keep showing up in campaigns to build power long-term so we can defeat MAGA.
That’s why SURJ members like Meredith canvassed the No Kings Day crowds and recruited hundreds of people into SURJ where they can join an organizing home and take action long-term. MAGA depends on white people to join them, or to sit on the sidelines, and SURJ has a clear role in cutting that support out from under them.
Can you donate today to power our work?
Trump and MAGA are worried about losing control of Congress in 2026 and are feeling the pressure as more and more people are joining together to say no to their authoritarian regime. Let’s make sure millions of white people are joining this broad coalition of people across the country to block MAGA and fight for the multiracial working class. The more white people we can activate for our side, the more powerful we are.
In solidarity,
SURJ
P.S. Inspired and want to hear more? Join us for our SURJ mass call on Sunday, October 26th for a conversation about what white people can do right now to keep up the energy from No Kings Day and take the next step to block MAGA and the billionaire class.
