We are waking up to a devastating reality today that Donald Trump will be our next president. We are with you in grief, rage, and fear. In these early days, we must reach for each other, feel our feelings, and recommit to our deepest values: justice, solidarity, and care for one another.
Join us tonight at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT for a space of grounding– and a call to action for white folks.
Throughout history, there have always been white people who stood on the side of justice and liberation amidst seemingly impossible circumstances. From abolitionists to Freedom Riders to war dissenters, we have always been there. Always too few of us and always imperfectly, but we have always been there.
The history of racism and white supremacy in this country is deep, violent, and persistent– that much is clear in this moment. But today, we have the great privilege of stepping into the legacy of those who, as Anne Braden said, fought racism “like our lives depend on it– because, in truth, they do.”
The mandate for us to organize our own has never been clearer. Please join us in this work by showing up tonight. And invite your friends and community– this is a time to bring our people with us.
See you tonight–
