With less than one month in office, Trump has been working overtime to implement a white supremacist agenda, enrich billionaires, and consolidate power. And– people like us are fighting back.
Mass “Know Your Rights” and immigrant protection trainings in Chicago have stopped deportations and ICE arrests. Doctors are refusing to comply or finding loopholes to provide trans healthcare and abortions. Thousands of people are taking to the streets to show their dissent.
SURJ members have been contributing to that rising tide with our Gear Up Program that just finished– including our “Pledge to Protect and Resist” that members organized local elected officials and leaders to sign.
We’re keeping up the moment with a new series: Protect and Resist: actions and training for white people in the first 100 days. On Wednesday nights through the first 100 days, sign up to join SURJ in action and learning with a cohort of other members across the country.
This program has three components:
- Action hours where we’ll take action on things like contacting representatives, supporting immigrants or organizing leaders to pledge non-compliance to MAGA’s agenda.
- Training webinars on topics like immigration defense and building the white working class with leaders across social justice movements to deepen our analysis and hear important calls-to-action.
- A mass day of action with partner organizations where, at the end of the first 100 days, we’ll come together to show up in a powerful multiracial coalition of working people.
Our first webinar is next week on Wednesday, February 19. To explore the topic, “Racism: why we can’t have nice things, a conversation about why MAGA’s agenda to defund public infrastructure is rooted in racism” we’ll be joined by author and political strategist, Robin DG Kelley.
Our first Action Hour is February 26. The action will be announced closer to the date of the training.
While the dangers are real, many of these moves are straight from the authoritarian playbook used to make Trump appear to have more power than he actually does. Join us to get organized and fight back.
In solidarity,
