As MAGA and the billionaires ramp up their white supremacist agenda, SURJ ramps up, too. We are organizing hundreds of thousands of white people across the country into training programs, into the streets, and into campaigns to fight back and align around a vision of multiracial solidarity for all.
SURJ’s Block and Build Strategy – a plan to block MAGA and build working-class power – reached across the country. From training programs that coached white people to act in solidarity against ICE raids, to our work organizing Southern small towns and faith congregations, to winning big electoral campaigns, we used every opportunity we had to cut MAGA’s base of white support out from under them and organize our people towards a future where all of us – white, Black, and Brown – have what we need.

SURJ’s 2025 electoral work was Block and Build in action. Six hundred SURJ members made 300,000 calls to white voters this election season and delivered strategic blows to the MAGA agenda. We blocked them in the Virginia governor’s race and built working-class power by rallying behind Zohran Mamdani’s vision of affordability for all to win the New York City mayoral race by a landslide.
SURJ’s economic justice campaigns in the rural South are bringing white people into coalition with Black and immigrant communities to fight for something that will make everyone’s life better: housing and nourishing food for all. Our grassroots organizers and member leaders knocked on hundreds of doors in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia this year, signing up new members and creating new coalitions by working on renters’ rights, shelter for unhoused people, and tending community gardens together.
