Northwest Immigrant Rights Project – May 21, 2025

While we greatly missed you at our gala last week, we wanted to share some amazing news with you. Thanks to this community, we were able to raise over $1.4 million on Friday night to continue our crucial work of defending and advancing the rights of immigrants! Click here to watch the video that we shared, featuring the powerful work of our impact litigation team at this crucial time.

As our emcee Monserrat Padilla said that evening, it was a celebration of what’s possible when we come together in shared humanity, and at the same time, an honoring of the deep anger we feel when our loved ones — our neighbors, our friends, even our own selves — are treated with such contempt and injustice.

At the event, I shared that we remain unwavering in this work because we are steadfast in our values of dignity, fairness, solidarity, self-determination, safety, and inclusion. And it is our commitment to these values and to our client communities that gives us the courage to do the right thing. We cannot abdicate our role in the movement because it’s too hard or too frightening, because it is in these moments that our voices and our commitment must be the loudest.

We thank you for sharing these values and responsibility with us. And while we missed you on Friday, there is still time to make a difference. Click here to make a donation in support of NWIRP’s work.

We are so grateful for this community’s support, and we couldn’t do this work without you. Thank you!

With Gratitude,

Malou Chávez (she/her/ella)
Executive Director

P.S. Also, photos from the event will be uploaded to our Facebook page shortly. Make sure to follow us on social media to get the latest updates about our work!

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, support for public health policies has gradually declined. At the federal level certain policies and practices regarding vaccines have been thrown into question.

Vaccine proponents note the long-time and widespread benefits of the traditional MMR vaccine; vaccine skeptics generally insist it causes autism. Some say the approval process (Operation Warp Speed for Covid-19) was either rushed or rigged; others say the process was instrumental in reducing suffering and saved the lives of millions of people.
