Washington state’s clean energy industry has been rising to fight the climate crisis. But I-2117 could scuttle all that innovation and progress.
That means lost jobs, shuttered startups, and so much wasted potential. The Climate Commitment Act is not only supporting our economy – it is growing the jobs of tomorrow. We can’t afford to just throw it all away.
Here’s just a small selection of clean energy investments that I-2117 would cut:
- $60 million for the state’s Clean Energy Fund, which helps pay for grid modernization, clean energy deployment, and other efforts
- $20 million for the Pacific Northwest’s hydrogen hub, a coalition working to develop the region’s hydrogen economy
- $7.5 million for University of Washington’s Clean Energy Testbeds, which supports clean energy startups
- $7.2 million for Washington State University’s Institute for Northwest Energy Futures, which is partnering with industry to develop energy solutions
And that’s just a fraction of the $2.4 billion that the law has raised for transportation, infrastructure, climate resilience, and more.
Onward,
No on 2117
