Friend,
As parents prepare to send their kids back to school, our team rallied with parents, educators, students, and other Washingtonians at the construction site of the new Tyee High School in SeaTac. This is one of over 170 school construction projects funded by the capital gains tax – the same tax that Initiative 2109 would get rid of.
Without the capital gains tax, projects like this would face funding cuts. And without grassroots support, we can’t spread the word about what’s at stake if the capital gains tax is repealed. Chip in today to help us defeat I-2109 and protect funding for our schools and childcare programs.
Take it from Shawna Moore, a former teacher at Tyee High School, who said: “What message do you think it sends our students about how much the state cares about their education when it can’t even put a non-leaking roof over their heads?”
Thanks to the capital gains tax, Tyee students will have a new school when the project is complete in 2025. But if I-2109 passes and the capital gains tax is repealed, thousands of Washington students will lose the opportunity to learn in safe, healthy environments.
With the support of Washingtonians like you, I’m confident that we will defeat I-2109 and protect funding for our schools and childcare.
Thank you for your support,
Samantha Casne
