Friend,
Brian Heywood just put out a new ad promoting Initiative 2109 – and it’s wildly misleading.
The ad claims that Initiative 2109 would “repeal the backdoor income tax.” This is Heywood’s attempt to trick voters.
The truth? I-2109 would repeal the capital gains tax, a tax on extreme Wall Street profits that 99.8% of us will never have to pay. The capital gains tax provides vital funding for education and childcare in our state – funding we can’t afford to lose.
Brian Heywood doesn’t want to pay the capital gains tax, and he’s trying to repeal it with I-2109. He spent millions to get this initiative on the ballot, and he’s spending big to get his new ad in front of voters. He and his mega-millionaire friends want Washingtonians to think that I-2109 would save money – but it would only put more money in their pockets, not ours.
Heywood can afford the capital gains tax. But Washingtonians can’t afford to lose the funding it provides.
Together, we will defeat I-2109, ensure mega-millionaires and billionaires pay what they owe, and preserve vital funding and resources for education, childcare, and more.
Thanks for helping us spread the word,
