No Hate in Washington State – June 29, 2026

I’m Emily Randall! I proudly represent Washington’s 6th District in Congress, and I’m writing to you on behalf of No Hate in WA State.

As the first LGBTQ+ Latina in Congress, I know what it means to have extremist Republican politicians and activists use us as political pawns.

I was born and raised in Washington, and I have dedicated my career to fighting for folks in my district and across the state and country who aren’t given a seat at the table where decisions are being made in our nation’s capital. 

And I fight especially hard for LGBTQ+ kids.

No Hate in WA State is a campaign to protect those same kids and to defeat two poorly written initiatives. I want to talk more about what those are and why they’re dangerous.

  • Measure IL26-001 would force schools to out LGBTQ+ students, allow parents under criminal investigation for abuses against their own child to access their children’s counseling and other school records, and empower extremist groups to disrupt our classrooms.
  • Measure IL26-638 would place a blanket statewide ban on any trans girls in sports, meaning hundreds of thousands of girls would be forced into unnecessary, invasive genital exams just to play on school sports teams.

This effort isn’t just creepy, it’s dangerous. My job in Congress is to stand with and for kids across my district. These initiatives are the exact kind of thing I’m obligated to fight back against.
