You’ve been by my side since I announced my candidacy for Attorney General over a year ago. By now, you know that my team and I don’t use scare tactics or generate a false sense of urgency to get you involved with our campaign.
I’ll always be honest, direct, and real with you. That’s why I want you to know I really mean this: the outcome of this race could have grave consequences for Washingtonians.
My opponent, Pete Serrano, stands in opposition to our progressive, hard-won Washington values. You only have to look to our debates last week to hear what’s at stake for our communities:
Serrano would roll back crucial gun safety protections, including bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and went so far as to say the Attorney General’s office should not play any role in advancing gun safety.
He implied he would have a hard time defending Washington’s shield law, which protects abortion providers and people from criminalized states who travel to Washington for abortion care.
Serrano ludicrously defended his use of the term “political prisoners” to refer to January 6 insurrectionists, a chilling preview of what may come if he reaches the Attorney General’s office.
This is no exaggeration: gun safety, protections for abortion providers and patients, and the very foundations of our democracy are all at risk in this election. I really don’t want to scare you, but I need you to know what we’re up against.
We need every resource possible to defeat Serrano. Before our end-of-quarter deadline in just four days, can you pitch in to help us reach voters across Washington? No matter how much you can give, I am so grateful for your support.
Thank you,
Nick
