To: Interested parties From: Aisling Kerins, General Consultant, Nick Brown for Attorney General Re: Nick Brown for AG Date: September 2024
Last week Nick faced off with his general election opponent in the race for Attorney General, Pete Serrano, in two back-to-back debates – one in Spokane hosted by AWB and one in Seattle hosted by the Washington State Debate Coalition. While the cities and hosts were different, the contrast between the opponents was consistent.
Nick has the experience to lead the Attorney General’s office from day one, will fight to defend Washington’s laws and values, and will stand up for abortion rights and to keep our communities safe from gun violence. In coverage of the debates:
- · Cascade PBS said “Gun control posed one of the starkest contrasts between the candidates.”
- · The Washington State Standard noted “Abortion is another dividing line” between the candidates.
- · The Seattle Times highlighted that Serrano said “he wouldn’t defend state laws he believes are unconstitutional.”
- · The Spokesman Review covered in detail Serrano’s defense of calling those that broke into the U.S Capitol on January 6th “political prisoners.”
Nick started the month off spending Labor Day with union members in Lewis and Pierce Counties, spoke with Democrats in Whatcom and Yakima Counties, campaigned with LiUNA members in Snohomish County and met with IBEW 46 members in King County. He also volunteered packing meals for community members experiencing hunger on the 9/11 Day of Service, joining a group of volunteers from the Seattle Police Department to pack and box thousands of meals. And most recently, Nick met with members of Washington’s Haitian community who are feeling negative impacts from Trump’s hateful fear mongering.
With the debates behind us, Nick will be working to meet with as many voters as possible across the state in these last 6 weeks before the election!
