Washingtonians across the state are getting ready to watch tonight’s presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
When ballots drop in October, voters will have a choice to make in the most consequential presidential election of our lifetimes. But threats to our fundamental freedoms aren’t just looming over the White House. Right-wing extremism is right here in Washington, and we must take action to safeguard our democracy and protect human rights before it’s too late.
Nick’s opponent, Pete Serrano, is a right-wing conservative aligned with Trump’s extreme agenda. As Nick cautioned voters on primary election night, Serrano opposes a woman’s right to choose and has filed lawsuits to throw out common-sense gun safety legislation like restrictions on sales of assault-style weapons and large capacity magazines.
After last week’s shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia, it is unconscionable that Serrano is still attempting to roll back restrictions on the kinds of weapons that are most often used in school shootings.
We can’t let our guard down, Kendall. Just like Trump, Serrano is dangerous for Washington. We have some of the strongest protections in the nation for reproductive freedom, gun safety, LGBTQ+ rights, and more — but we can never take them for granted.
Your support helps our team connect with voters in every corner and county of Washington about Nick’s priorities to build safer and healthier communities for all — and about how dangerous his opponent would be to the progress we’ve made.
Thank you!
