Today is Gun Violence Awareness Day, also known as Wear Orange.
Wear Orange is observed each June in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago in 2013. Her friends commemorated her life by wearing orange, which hunters wear to protect themselves and others.
Preventing gun violence is a community effort. It takes all of us — and addressing gun violence is one of Nick’s top priorities.
Every Washingtonian has the right to be safe. One of Nick’s proudest accomplishments as an attorney was helping write Initiative 1639: Safe Schools and Safe Communities. This landmark legislation regulates deadly weapons of war and ensures safe storage for firearms, and it was approved by nearly 60% of Washington voters.
As Attorney General, Nick will ensure his office implements and enforces Washington’s nation-leading gun laws and holds accountable those violating them. But he can’t do it alone.
Thank you for supporting Nick as he fights to create a safer Washington for all.
