Happy Pride!
Pride Month is a celebration of our LGBTQIA+ communities, a commemoration of the resilient trailblazers who paved the way for human rights, and a reminder of the progress we can still make together so that every Washingtonian can thrive.
Washington is a leader in championing LGBTQIA+ rights. Our state law bans discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, creating protections in school, housing, the workplace, and more.
As countless states attempt to restrict access to healthcare for transgender people, Washington moved to affirm trans rights. Last year, Gov. Jay Inslee signed five bills into law that protect trans youth in shelters, create privacy protections for people changing their names or accessing gender-affirming health care, and specifically safeguard trans youth from harassment and discrimination in schools.
I am deeply committed to defending LGBTQIA+ Washingtonians’ human rights. Attorneys general are the last line of defense against discriminatory, violent attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly transgender people. I am ready to take on anyone who threatens civil and human rights — including Trump, who has already vowed to roll back protections for trans youth if elected this November.
Have a wonderful Pride Month!
