As we approach the start of summer, I’d like to take a moment to share some photos with you from the Juneteenth event that I attended in Renton this weekend. It was an incredible celebration of freedom and a powerful reminder of the work we still have ahead of us.
Juneteenth holds a significant place in our history. It commemorates the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached enslaved Africans and African-Americans in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865.
This day represents freedom, equality, and the ongoing struggle for racial justice. It’s a reminder that we must continue to fight for safer and healthier communities for Black Washingtonians.
As you know, my commitment to advancing racial justice is at the core of my campaign for Attorney General — and that includes fighting for a more just legal system, defending civil and human rights at every turn, and creating an economy that works for everyone.
I will keep working tirelessly to create a Washington where everyone is empowered to thrive. I’m grateful for your support and partnership in this journey.
Thank you,
Nick
