I witnessed Nick’s commitment to defending Washingtonians’ human rights and fundamental freedoms during his time as my general counsel. Together, we worked to end the death penalty in Washington and stood up against Trump’s racist and discriminatory Muslim ban.
You’ve probably heard Nick say that he’s running for Attorney General because he believes every Washingtonian has the right to be safe no matter their age, race, gender, who they love, or where they live. I can promise you he means this.
As the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington appointed by President Biden, Nick defended civil rights, fought drug cartels and sex trafficking, addressed the fentanyl crisis, and worked to reduce violent crime. He’s actively committed to understanding and finding solutions for the underlying issues that contribute to homelessness, gun violence, and poverty. He’s a leader and a listener — which is how I know he’ll make an outstanding Attorney General.
The threat of far-right extremism is ever-present, including at the state Republican convention, where the GOP passed a resolution that says they oppose legislation that makes our nation more democratic. Washington’s next Attorney General must be ready to fearlessly defend all Washingtonians from state Republicans and Trump’s hateful agenda. That’s why I’ve already put my full support behind Nick’s people-powered campaign, and I hope you’ll join me today by making a grassroots contribution.
