That was not an accident
From the desk of Bibek, Senior Digital Strategist
This week was Illinois’ turn for a primary Tuesday, and come 2027, it’s possible the Land of Lincoln will be represented by two women of color in the U.S. Senate. Beyond that, statewide, 70% of NDTC learners advanced to the general election. That’s a 2 in 3 chance of putting MAGA on notice and making them explain themselves between now and the general election. If you do not like seeing the direction Trump and MAGA keep taking us, November is coming to a ballot box near you. Check out filing deadlines in your state. If you want to run for office, NDTC can show you how.
One more thing. The majority of those NDTC learners were primarily from underrepresented communities or were first-time candidates. That is not an accident.
Thousands of qualified people never run for office because they’ve convinced themselves they have to be some perfect candidate rather than honestly talking to voters. That gap between aspiration and connection loses races.
The skills that close that gap can be taught. We know because we’ve taught them to 128,000 Democrats. The candidates who advanced this week in the Illinois primary knew it, too. Now we want to teach those skills to you. Sign up for a training.

NDTC Learner Spotlight 🔦
First-time candidate and NDTC learner Miguel M. Valente will bring a much-needed working-class perspective to government. He is running for Sangamon County Board, District 18, in Illinois, and this week he won his primary, advancing to the general election.
Raised in an immigrant family from Guerrero, Mexico, Miguel is the first in his family to graduate from college and serve in the U.S. military. That background drives his commitment to his community.
