It’s All On The Field
We’re slowly but surely moving to traindems.org. If you see emails pop up from social@traindems.org, that’s us! You can mark it as safe in your inbox, we promise.
This week, we’re taking a deeper look at the environments that can be transformed into spaces for political action – whether that field is rural canvassing turf or kids’ sports sidelines. Meeting folks where they are is essential to making change, so our partnership with Vote Save America continues to find people taking that first step. Continue on to see what’s coming up on our calendar, timely reads, and a challenge that could lead to your next move.
Our Learners are making a HUGE impact!
NDTC learner Maureen Bauer is leading the charge for caregivers in the Hoosier state by serving on study committees focused on improving care and access across a variety of domains.

What’s On Our Newsfeeds

Why this story is important:
Speaker Johnson halted legislative business until September, reportedly to block another vote on releasing the Epstein files and shield Trump. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Justice Department files on Epstein. Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump’s is in the Epstein materials. Accountability matters.

Why this story is important:
Former federal officials alienated by Trump’s remaking of the federal government deciding to run for office themselves. If you know someone who has lost their job thanks to DOGE or other Trump cuts, send them our way. We’d love to provide free training + resources to support their run for office.w.

Why this story is important:
Typically, states redraw their congressional district maps every ten years to accommodate shifts in population. But in many states, lawmakers have taken to changing the lines whenever they see it as politically advantageous to help their party.

Why this story is important:
Research shows that working-class attitudes have actually drifted slowly toward more socially and culturally liberal positions over decades. At the same time, however, middle- and upper-class Americans have raced toward uber-liberalism, especially in recent years, opening up a yawning class gap on social attitudes. A first step to winning back workers is closing that gap..
