Deep in the Heart of Texas
Just when it seemed like the fight was over, one person – NDTC learner! – Texas Rep. Nicole Collier, refused to be cowed. Courage is catching. And the redistricting fight – already growing well past Texas – is now a national story, with former President Obama weighing in. Because Texas maps may be a done deal, but the rest of the country is not.
We have 14 months and change to the midterms. Every seat, ballot, vote, and voice counts. It’s why NDTC invests in every part of winning elections – candidates, campaign strategy and staff, the gamut.

If you’re wondering why Texas Rep. (and NDTC learner) Nicole Collier wouldn’t comply, and now has company, it’s because she refused to be treated like a criminal – and followed and tracked about her day – when what she did was her job, which is to stand up for her constituents.

Former presidents are judicious about wading into current affairs. It’s an indication of what is on the table for elections, representation, and American democracy for President Obama to wade into this conversation.

About one third of the electorate – including thousands of active duty service members – vote by mail. That’s a lot of people to disenfranchise. (Side note: Even Fox columnists are raising eyebrows.)
