You’re Already Doing the Work
From the desk of Bibek, Senior Digital Strategist
A few years back, I was a Big Brother to a Dominican boy who loved two things: Ben Ten and his iPad, much to my chagrin.
When he started 6th grade and Spanish class began, he got nervous. He spoke English at home and was convinced he’d walk in and get clocked as a ‘no sabo’ kid (IYKYK). Well, turns out he spent most of his iPad time FaceTiming his Grandma who spent years singing to him in Spanish, chatting with him, and working with him on a solid foundation. He wasn’t fluent, but he was comfortable and confident. He had put in the work without knowing it, and it came easier because the work was connected to someone he loved.
Democrats just flipped two seats in Florida where more registered Republicans than Democrats actually turned out to vote. They did this by putting in the work to engage with their community and build up their credentials long before they knew they’d use them to run for office. You might not think you’re ready to run for office. But the biggest qualification to do it is a deep connection to the people you want to represent. Chances are high you’ve already got that.If you’ve been waiting for a sign and a place to start, enroll in our new bootcamp to hone your campaign message.

NDTC Learner Spotlight 🔦
NDTC Learner Donald D. Dantzler Jr. is running for Fitchburg City Council, District 3 AND Dane County Board of Supervisors, District 33 in Wisconsin. His goal is simple: an engaged community gets better results. That means doing more than showing up to meetings. It means building real participation in Fitchburg so everyone has a seat at the table when decisions get made.
ICYMI 📢
ICE is using state DMV data to track and identify people who show up to peaceful protests.
The Democracy Action Center has a two-minute action to tell your governor to cut off ICE’s access to that data now.
