It’s late, the counts are still coming in, and I’ll be honest with you: tonight is looking good. Really good.
Across the country, NDTC-trained candidates are winning races we were told were out of reach. A staggering number of races have already been called in our favor, from school boards and city councils to state legislatures and the U.S. House. Every one of those wins started with someone deciding to show up, log into a training at 9 pm after a long day, and do the work.
Manny Rutinel is headed to Congress after winning Colorado’s highest-spending race of the cycle. The son of a Dominican immigrant who was a single mother, Rutinel overcame significant financial hardship to earn degrees from Johns Hopkins and Yale. He joined NDTC in 2023 and completed more than 13 Virtual Live Trainings during his first run for the Colorado House.
Makia Metzger secured a Democratic hold of Cobb County’s Solicitor General office, where she is the county’s first woman and first African American to hold the position. After training with NDTC in 2023, she described the campaign strategy insights she gained as “inordinately” helpful.
Some races won’t be called tonight, and a few may take days. We’re watching every one of them, and we won’t celebrate early on anyone’s behalf. But I couldn’t sign off without telling you how proud I am of this movement. And of YOU.
