When the Trump-appointed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair signaled threats to ABC to take “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” off the air and ABC gave in by suspending the program, millions of us came together and took action to defend free speech and demand they reinstate Jimmy Kimmel’s show. And in just days, something incredible happened: We won.1
This past week reminded us who really holds the power—not corporations, not the Trump administration, but we the people. It reminded us of what we can accomplish when the masses are organized and sing a unified demand. And we can’t stop here.
On October 18, we have an opportunity to harness all the energy over the past week and peacefully join together across the country for the No Kings national mobilization. As the Trump administration continues to steamroll our freedoms, we must build on the momentum of this moment and sing together: No crowns, no thrones, no kings!

The Trump administration is weaponizing the federal government to punish anyone who speaks out against them or their agenda. They’ve come for politicians, organizations, universities, activists, and now comedians. And it won’t stop there. They are abusing their powers to stifle dissent and attack our freedoms, hoping they can intimidate us into submission.
But on October 18, we will show that we are not afraid and will not passively watch our rights be stripped away. And we still believe in a future where everyone has quality health care, education, housing, and more, as well as the freedom to be who they are and dissent without punishment.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
