This is Jessica Valenti—author, journalist, feminist activist, MoveOn member—and someone who, like you, knows that abortion is on the ballot this election. I’m joining MoveOn at a virtual phone bank on October 8 to remind voters how important it is to turn out for abortion this election!
I write a newsletter called “Abortion Every Day,” a daily correspondence about abortion rights and the feminist community in this country that exposes right-wing attacks on our health care and autonomy—and what we can do about them. I am also the author of the new book “Abortion: Our Bodies, Their Lies, and the Truths We Use to Win.”
Yes, that’s right: I wrote a book called “Abortion.” It’s an issue central to who wins the White House and control of Congress, and in numerous states, abortion rights are on the ballot to be decided by voters themselves.
Thankfully, I know that millions of MoveOn members across the country are in this fight—making phone calls, knocking on doors, and supporting grassroots efforts to ensure abortion rights win this November … both in referendums and in whom we elect to office. And that’s why I’m joining MoveOn members to call voters in key states to talk about what’s at stake.

I’ll join the call and spend a few minutes sharing how abortion is shaping this election cycle. It’s going to take all of us coming together to fight for abortion access and ensure that voters turn out to vote for abortion, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Democrats all the way down the ballot.
We’ll be calling voters in Nevada to let them know about Question 6, the Reproductive Rights Amendment, a ballot initiative that would permanently protect the right to abortion in the state.1 This amendment adds a permanent layer of protection so that no matter who holds office in our state, extremist abortion bans cannot become law in Nevada.
Every Nevadan and person across the country deserves reproductive freedom—and for the decision to have an abortion to be where it belongs: with patients and doctors, not politicians. That’s why it’s crucial that every voter in Nevada cast their ballot to vote yes on Question 6!
